Ambassador Thomas Barrack raised the American flag over the ambassador’s residence in Damascus, Syria for the first time since the embassy closed in 2012. U.S. Army MG Kevin Leahy, Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq and U.S. Marine Brig. Gen. Michael Brooks, Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force-Levant commander, attended the event.
