It is with great sadness that the Arlington Fire Department announces the passing of Retired Lieutenant Harvey Edward “Eddy” Spurgin. Lieutenant Spurgin passed away on May 29, 2026. He faithfully served the Arlington Fire Department and the Arlington community from 1986 until his retirement in 2016.

Lieutenant Spurgin made a lasting impact on the department, his fellow firefighters, and the citizens he proudly served. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to public service will not be forgotten.

Please keep the Spurgin family, as well as Eddy’s friends and former colleagues, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rest easy, Lieutenant. Your service and legacy will always be remembered.

The Arlington Fire Department is one big family, and sometimes that family connection runs even deeper.

This weekend, brothers Graham and Greyson Ledbetter had the unique opportunity to serve together as the two backseat firefighters aboard Engine 16. While working alongside your fire department family is always special, getting to respond to calls and share the experience with your biological brother is something few firefighters ever get to do.

From training together to answering the call together, it’s a reminder that the bonds forged in the fire service often feel like family, and for Graham and Greyson, they truly are.

What an incredible experience and memory for these two brothers. Stay safe, E16!

You may have seen Station 4 horsing around at Randol Mill Park yesterday, but it was all for a great cause.

Members of Station 4 were honored to be invited to a special event hosted by Gigi’s Playhouse, where families enjoyed a day filled with fun, community connections, and a few four-legged friends.

The event also featured Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger, who took time to meet with attendees and support the incredible mission of Gigi’s Playhouse.

We’re always grateful for opportunities to engage with our community outside of emergency responses and help create memorable experiences for the families we serve.

Thank you to Gigi’s Playhouse for the invitation and for all you do to support individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout our community.

Sometimes, when you call 911, it’s not a life-threatening emergency, but you still need help. Here’s how the Arlington 911 Nurse Navigation program helps guide you every step of the way:
1. You call 911.
2. The dispatcher answers and learns more about your situation.
3. If it’s not life-threatening, you’ll be connected to a Nurse Navigator.
4. The Nurse Navigator then helps you find the best next steps – whether that’s to emergency care, urgent
care or self-care at home (or in some cases a return to 911 ambulance dispatch).
With these steps, our program makes sure that you get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

Today, more than 40 members of the Arlington Fire Department, along with their families, proudly participated in the annual Carry The Load Memorial March in honor of the fallen.

This year, our team walked in memory of Firefighter Dalton Ingram of Eagle Mountain Fire Department (now Tarrant County ESD 1). It was an incredible honor to carry his memory alongside so many others who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today’s march was a powerful reflection of the fire service brotherhood and sisterhood. Members from every rank across the department participated, from recruits just beginning their careers to a Division Chief with decades of service. Many walked in full gear as a sign of honor and remembrance, while families stood beside them every step of the way.

We also want to thank everyone who supported and motivated us along the route. Every cheer, high five, and fist bump helped keep us going throughout the walk. To all the volunteers who handed out water and drinks along the way, you are truly our heroes. Your support and encouragement meant more than you know.

To the members who participated, thank you for continuing to represent the Arlington Fire Department with pride and professionalism. We are proud of each and every one of you.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and helped make today so meaningful. We will never forget those we carry in our hearts.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and remember those who gave everything in service to others.

From all of us at the Arlington Fire Department, we thank and honor our fallen heroes and their families. 🇺🇸
