Celebrating Pride Month Cyrus Dallin Art Museum on Sunday, June 14.

In honor of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, this special tour invites visitors to make connections between Cyrus Dallin’s art and the compelling stories of LGBTQ artists, writers, and intellectuals in Dallin’s creative circle or who were later influenced by his work. Individuals highlighted include John Singer Sargent, Rosa Bonheur, Anne Whitney, Thomas McKeller, contemporary artist Kent Monkman, and more. Celebrate inclusion and creativity while gaining a deeper understanding of the social and cultural landscape of Dallin’s era, his artistic influences, and his relationships with diverse people.

With unprecedented access to the global migration crisis, Roads of Fire weaves together three powerful, deeply personal narratives: a human smuggler guiding refugees through the treacherous Darién Gap, an asylum seeker rebuilding her life in New York City, and volunteers working on the frontlines of a mounting humanitarian emergency.

The film offers an unflinching, intimate look at the human cost of forced migration and the resilience of those navigating one of the greatest humanitarian crises of our time.

After the screening, there will be a question & answer session with the filmmaker, Nathaniel Lezra.

The Arlington School Committee is seeking to appoint two members to the Town's Human Rights Commission. One appointment will cover the term from June 15, 2026, through October 31, 2026, and the other will cover a term beginning immediately and ending on October 31, 2027.

The Arlington Human Rights Commission invites the community to a talk and a conversation on the Declaration of Independence and its meaning for us today. At “Re-Examining Our Roots: The Declaration of Independence at 250,” moderator Michael Kozuch, K-12 Director of Social Studies and History for the Arlington Public Schools, will present historical background on the Declaration and its continuing importance. Breakout groups will then discuss key concepts in the Declaration and their relevance today. Howard Winkler, former Arlington Historical Society President and past president of the Arlington Civil Rights Commission, will conclude with a tribute to Black Bostonian abolitionist Prince Hall, who argued that the Declaration's assertion that “all men are created equal” applied to all Black people, and to whom a marker in the Black Masonic burial ground in Arlington is dedicated. The free talk is titled "Star-Manning and Free Speech: How Compassionate Conversation Can Build Community Across Divides." Angel Eduardo is a writer, musician, photographer, and designer based in New York City, best-known for coining the rhetorical term “star-manning™️.” He works as Senior Writer & Editor for the free speech advocacy nonprofit Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the civil rights nonprofit Fair for All.
