Arlington Police Department Social Media Policy
This page is an official communication channel of the Arlington Police Department (APD). It is intended to share information about APD services, programs, events, public safety matters, news, and other matters of public interest.
APD’s social media pages are intended to serve as a limited public forum for discussion related to the subject of an APD post. We welcome respectful, on-topic comments.
APD may hide or remove comments that:
• are off topic or unrelated to the subject of the post;
• are duplicate, repetitive, or spam;
• promote or advertise a business, product, or commercial
transaction;
• support or oppose a candidate for elective office or a ballot
measure;
• include links or other content intended to advertise, solicit, or
direct users to unrelated external sites;
• disclose private, personal, or confidential information about
any person;
• infringe copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property
rights;
• contain true threats, criminal content, or speech likely to incite
imminent lawless action; or
• otherwise violate applicable law.
Moderation will be applied in a viewpoint-neutral manner. Comments will not be removed solely because they criticize APD, its employees, or its policies.
Users who repeatedly violate this policy may be temporarily blocked from APD’s social media pages for a reasonable period, not to exceed 90 days.
Comments posted by members of the public do not reflect the views of APD. Content submitted to this page may be a public record subject to disclosure under Washington law.
APD social media pages are not monitored 24/7 and are not a substitute for reporting crimes, requesting police service, or requesting emergency assistance. Do not use social media to report emergencies or crimes in progress. In an emergency call 911. For non-emergency police services call (425) 407-3999.
