Let there be light!

After being in service for 30 years, certain components of our fire station have reached the end of their useful life. The Posey Township Trustee has been working to upgrade/update our fire station for us over the last couple of years. This week new LED lights were installed in the truck bay after many of the old light housings had stopped working or been damaged. Last year both of our truck bay heaters failed and were also replaced.

We will be holding a Free Will Donation Breakfast on March 15th from 6a to 10a. Come see the station and support your local firefighters!

Annual hose testing was completed on every section of our hose today. KLR Fire Services Inc completed hose testing on just over one mile of fire hose. Hose, ladder, and pump testing are completed every year to make sure our equipment is always in tip-top shape.

Luckily the rain held off just long enough for our firefighters to participate in High Five Friday at the Arlington Elementary School. Thank you to the staff at AES for inviting us to participate!

Christmas has come early for the Posey Township VFD!

Earlier in the year our department was notified that we would be receiving the Assistance to Firefighters Grant from FEMA. This grant provided funding to purchase 14 new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs) and masks. Additional grant funding obtained from the Rush County Community Foundation and the Posey Township Trustee helped us purchase an additional four SCBAs. In total, the entire project came at a cost of nearly $159,000 with the majority of it being funded by grants.

Our fire personnel will be receiving training over the new equipment this evening, and then placing the equipment on the trucks.

Big News!!!!

We have received official word that the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department will be receiving funding from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG)! This grant program is a federal level program and very competitive across our entire country. Our department will be receiving $107,666.66 from the AFG grant to be used to purchase all new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs). The new SCBAs will be replacing 20 year old MSA SCBAs.

Next weekend the volunteers of the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Free Will Donation Breakfast! Come meet your local first responders and have breakfast too! Breakfast will be served from 7-10am.

On August 27th, 2022 the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association will be hosting a meeting at the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department to discuss preserving and improving the Future of the Volunteer Fire Service. This meeting will begin at 9a.m. and all Fire & EMS Leadership, Local Elected Officials, State Elected Officials, and Media are invited to attend.
