PSA: Josh Brace the Operator of the Arlington Water Department continues to repair water line breaks and is working to complete as much of the system as possible before winter.

The lines between Pleasant St and Hale Rd will be worked on beginning 9/14. Parts of Pleasant St will be closed to thru traffic while work is underway.
After excavation is complete we will have a better idea of the damage and it may be necessary to have part of East Arlington Rd closed to thru traffic at times, between Hale Rd and Pleasant St. Water usage may be affected during the repair but it will be intermittent and brief, if at all.

We apologize for any inconvenience thank you for your patience as we work to ensure a safe and operational water system.

PSA West Arlington Covered Bridge Project:

Wright Construction Company, Inc. has notified us that they will be mobilizing and bringing materials and equipment to the job site toward the end of the week of September 7, 2026 and will begin construction on September 14, 2026 rather than the originally scheduled date of September 4, 2026. Therefore, the Covered Bridge will be closed beginning on that date and we anticipate the closure to be for a period of 4-5 weeks.

The West Arlington Covered Bridge is arguably the most photographed bridges of it kind in the State of Vermont and is iconic to Arlington. Since there are only a handful of qualified contractors that actually do work on covered bridges, we are at the mercy of the contractor’s work schedule.

These repairs are absolutely essential for the long-term viability and safety of the traveling public.

Again, we recognize that this impacts residents and tourists traffic alike and apologize for any inconvenience.

Only water users on Warm Brook may experience intermittent water disruption from mid-morning to early afternoon.

Thank you for your patience as we work to make these needed repairs as quickly as possible, and apologies for the disruption.

ARLINGTON PSA:
Beginning Monday, August 31, the Arlington Highway Department will be replacing culverts on River Road. The work is estimated to be completed within the week.

Culverts need to be replaced on both sides of the road, so River Road, from Hollerith to Benedict Crossing Bridge, will need to be closed to all thru traffic including pedestrians and cyclists.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience as we work to get this completed in a safe timely manner.

From 3pm-5pm water users between Warm Brook Rd to the Chiselville Covered Bridge and between the Corner Market to South Rd may experience water shortages.

We will work quickly with GMP to install this new line and get water restored.

Apologies for the inconvenience, thank you for your patience.
