Join us on Saturday, June 20 for our monthly Breakfast & Community, with this month’s special guest Carolyn Pinta.

Carolyn Pinta is the Director of Buffalo Grove Pride and The Pinta Pride Project which were founded by her family in 2018 with the mission statement to highlight, celebrate and normalize the LGBTQ community in a family-friendly way in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. While the eight parades and dozens of visibility events that she has executed in the area have made a positive impact on thousands, she is most proud of the Card Campaign that has sent hundreds of thousands of notes of cheer all over the world to LGBTQ humans in need of love and support. Carolyn has taught Spanish at Twin Groves Middle School for 26 years.

On Saturday, June 20th from 2–5 PM, join the official opening the Carina for Senate campaign office. Stop by, take a look around, meet the team, and find out how you can get involved in the work Carina's campaign is doing across District 27.

This is a drop-in event — no RSVP required, no agenda, no pressure. Just an open door and a chance to connect.

Carina's campaign also partnering with Good Neighbors Network to collect cleaning supplies for families in our community. If you're able to bring something, we'd love to put it to good use.

Progressive candidates and their campaign managers in the Northwest Suburbs are invited to apply for the 2027 Cadre of the Candidates’ Coach Academy (CCA).

Since 2019, CCA has built a proven track record training and coaching progressive candidates for local elections for municipal and school board offices. Covered positions include Mayor, Village/City Trustee, Township Trustee, Library Board, Park Board, and School Board. This one-of-a-kind free program provides just-in-time training and coaching through the election cycle. In the 2025 consolidated municipal elections, 28 out of 30 participants won their elections.

Workshops include The Petition Drive, Fundraising, Campaign Boot Camp, Campaign Finances, Messaging, Social Media, Preparing for Debates and Forums and more. The first two workshops are held on Thursday evenings, one in July and one in August. In the fall, one or two workshops per month are held Saturday mornings, so as not to interfere with campaign time. The program also facilitates networking and collaboration among candidates.

The CCA is a free program started by former campaign manager Mark Michaels. It is held in collaboration with the Barrington, Elk Grove, Palatine, and Wheeling Township Democratic Organizations.

Applications will be accepted till June 26, 2026. They will be reviewed by a committee consisting of the participating Democratic Committee Persons and CCA leaders. Successful candidates will be notified of their acceptance by July 1, with the first class being held Thursday, July 9th.

As data center development increases in our communities, there is growing concern over their energy demands and environmental impacts.

Join us for our June WTDO Meeting to learn more about data centers and artificial intelligence. We will be joined by Kavi Chintam, the Illinois Campaign Manager for Vote Solar Illinois, for a presentation and Q&A session.
