Quick reminder! The Kids Reading Lounge opens in just a few short hours! The Reading Lounge is open on Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00. They can bring their own book or pick one out from the library's collection!

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and there’s no better time to discover everything your library card can do. From books and movies to digital resources, programs, technology, and more, your card is your key to connecting, imagining, exploring, and creating.

Already have a card? Stop by and check out our newly redesigned library cards. Replacement cards are only $2.00 each. Need one? Visit ACPL this month and get signed up. New cards/accounts are always free!

Starting September 3rd, the library is excited to offer a new after-school program just for kids: The Reading Lounge!

From 4:00–5:00 PM, kids can come in, get comfortable, and simply read for fun. They can bring a book from home or choose something from the library’s collection.

The Reading Lounge includes:
Comfy seating
Cozy reading lights
Lots of great books
A peaceful, relaxing environment

Most importantly, there’s no stress and no expectations. No assignments, no required reading, and no pressure to read a certain book or number of pages. This is a place for kids to slow down, get cozy, and enjoy a good book.

Whether they’re an enthusiastic reader or just looking for a quiet place to spend an hour, everyone is welcome.

Come relax, get comfortable, and read just because you love a good story!

Today, we join so many others in remembering Dolly Parton, whose legacy reaches far beyond music. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she turned her love of reading into a gift for millions of children, helping families fill their homes with books and giving young readers a wonderful start. One of the best ways we can honor Dolly’s legacy is to keep that mission going.

If you have a child under age 5 who isn’t enrolled in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, now is a perfect time to sign them up. Enrolled children receive a FREE, age-appropriate book in the mail every month, helping build a home library of their very own.
