๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ“š Water Safety Storytime at Station 511! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿด

This morning, our Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 & 2 firefighters welcomed families for a special Water Safety Storytime at Station 511! We were excited to share important water safety lessons with our community while making learning fun and engaging for our youngest residents.

A special thank you to our friends from Joyful Hooves and their miniature horses, Stanley and Shasta, for joining us today! Joyful Hooves is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy by bringing miniature horses to schools, libraries, and community events. Their unique reading programs help children build confidence, reduce anxiety, and develop a lifelong love of reading in a fun, supportive environment.

As summer temperatures rise and families spend more time around pools, lakes, and water parks, remember these important water safety tips:

๐ŸŠ Always provide active adult supervision around water.
๐Ÿ›Ÿ Designate a "Water Watcher" whose only job is to watch swimmers.
๐Ÿ‘ถ Keep young children within arm's reach when near water.
๐Ÿ… Enroll children in age-appropriate swim lessons.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Put phones and distractions away while supervising swimmers.
๐Ÿšจ Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills.
๐Ÿ’ง Remember: Drowning can happen quickly and quietly.

Thank you to everyone who came out this morning to learn, read, and connect with your local firefighters. Events like these help us build safer, stronger communities while teaching lifesaving lessons that can make a difference.

Thereโ€™s something special about a summer evening in Texasโ€”fresh-cut grass, the crack of a bat, families in the stands, and a little friendly hometown rivalry. ๐ŸฅŽ ๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿ†

Last weekend, Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 & 2 firefighters took the field against our law enforcement partners from Argyle Police Department and Northlake Police Department for the annual ๐—™๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐˜ƒ๐˜€. ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐˜๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น ๐—š๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฒ, continuing a tradition that reminds us of the values that make our communities strong: service, teamwork, and neighbors coming together.

For a few hours, the uniforms looked a little different, the competition was lighthearted, and the only emergency was stretching a double into a triple. But beneath the laughs and friendly banter was a shared commitment to the people we proudly serve every day.

Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer, visit with friends, and enjoy an evening that felt like a page from small-town America. These are the moments that remind us what community is all about.

Until next year, the gloves are hung up, the bragging rights are claimed, and the memories are made.

Our sincere gratitude goes to to Lantana Golf Club and the Argyle Professional Fire Fighters Local 5190 for generously sponsoring our 4th Annual First Responders Golf Tournament this week. โ›ณ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Events like these are much more than a day on the golf course โ€” they create meaningful opportunities for first responders, local organizations, and community partners to build lasting relationships outside of emergency situations. The connections formed through fellowship and teamwork help strengthen the trust, communication, and collaboration that ultimately benefit the communities we all serve.

We were honored to play alongside our police partners from Argyle Police Department, Northlake Police Department, Southlake Police Department, and Liberty Christian School for a day centered around camaraderie, partnership, and community support.

Thank you again to Lantana Golf Club. Your support and hospitality are deeply appreciated.
