๐ฆ๐ Water Safety Storytime at Station 511! ๐๐ด
This morning, our Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 & 2 firefighters welcomed families for a special Water Safety Storytime at Station 511! We were excited to share important water safety lessons with our community while making learning fun and engaging for our youngest residents.
A special thank you to our friends from Joyful Hooves and their miniature horses, Stanley and Shasta, for joining us today! Joyful Hooves is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy by bringing miniature horses to schools, libraries, and community events. Their unique reading programs help children build confidence, reduce anxiety, and develop a lifelong love of reading in a fun, supportive environment.
As summer temperatures rise and families spend more time around pools, lakes, and water parks, remember these important water safety tips:
๐ Always provide active adult supervision around water.
๐ Designate a "Water Watcher" whose only job is to watch swimmers.
๐ถ Keep young children within arm's reach when near water.
๐
Enroll children in age-appropriate swim lessons.
๐ฑ Put phones and distractions away while supervising swimmers.
๐จ Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills.
๐ง Remember: Drowning can happen quickly and quietly.
Thank you to everyone who came out this morning to learn, read, and connect with your local firefighters. Events like these help us build safer, stronger communities while teaching lifesaving lessons that can make a difference.
