From the Alabama Forestry Commission…..

March 26, 2026 at 16:33:17 CDT
FIRE ALERT: NO BURNING THIS WEEKEND

The Alabama Forestry Commission has officially issued a Fire Alert for all of Central and North Alabama, effective immediately through Sunday night.

We’re looking at a "perfect storm" of low humidity, extremely dry fuels, and increased wind speeds. In these conditions, it doesn't take a lightning strike to start a disaster—a single spark from a dragging trailer chain or an unattended charcoal grill can put our communities and our firefighters at serious risk.

What you need to know:
No Outdoor Burning: All permits for debris and agricultural burning are suspended. This includes trash piles and campfires.

Equipment Safety: If you’re hauling a trailer, ensure your chains are secured and not dragging on the pavement.

Vehicle Hazards: Avoid parking any vehicle in tall, dry grass where the exhaust system could ignite a fire.

Report Smoke Early: If you see smoke, don't assume someone else has called it in. Report it to 911 immediately so our crews can get on it while it’s still small.

Any violators of the burn ban are subject to ticketing and fines from local and/or state officials.
