🦆 This Saturday, we're looking for a different kind of bird's eye view.

Join us on the next Birding Walk and Pontoon Boat Tour for a guided gander at Lake Julian Park's avian residents and a chance to explore one of the area's birding hotspots from land and lake. The program will start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 5. Binoculars are available while supplies last.

⛺ Campers have s'more fun.

And it's not just s'mores in store – we'll have campfires, games, and friends new and old at our Fall Family Campout. From Saturday, September 19 to Sunday, September 20, we'll be reconnecting with nature and sleeping under the stars at Lake Julian Park.

Registration is required. The $40 ticket covers an entire family and includes dinner, light breakfast, and all activities. On-site check in begins at noon on Saturday.

⚠️ Please note that camping is not typically allowed in the park, and an exception is made for event attendees only. The front side of Lake Julian Park will be closed to non-event visitors during the campout.

🛶 We're teaming up with RiverLink, the Buncombe County Environmental Educators, the City of Asheville, the NC Arboretum’s ecoEXPLORE program, and Asheville Museum of Science for Creek Week’s Lake & Learn Day!

This Friday, July 10, kids of all ages can enjoy an afternoon at Lake Julian Park to explore water-themed science and play. From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., young explorers can dig for aquatic fossils, go on a nature scavenger hunt, meet live macroinvertebrates, make crafts, settle into the reading nook, and play yard games.

Buncombe County Parks will be open throughout the weekend and on Memorial Day. Lake Julian Park will open early tomorrow, May 24, at 7 a.m.

⚠️ Charles D. Owen Park and Alexander River Park remain closed due to storm damage.

All sides of Lake Julian Park (main park, back side, and extension) will be closed on Thursday, May 14 for a staff training. Regular park hours will resume on Friday, May 15.

⚠️ Lake Julian Park will open today, February 2, at 12 p.m. to allow parks crews time to clear ice and snow. Buncombe County Sports Park will remain closed today due to icy conditions. We expect to resume normal hours tomorrow, but we'll provide updates as conditions continue to be assessed.

Other currently open Buncombe County parks will welcome visitors at 11 a.m. today.

Charles D. Owen Park, Alexander River Park, and Karpen Fields remain closed for Helene-related repairs.
