Take a look inside the new training facility at Station 110.

A classroom, a three-story training tower with two floors of live fire training, and space for outdoor training and scenarios mean our crews can train on real fire without leaving the community they serve. A training mezzanine with movable maze walls for search training is coming next.

A question we get a lot: is it safe for the neighborhood? Yes. The live-fire prop burns clean propane — the same fuel as a backyard grill — and the smoke is water-based and non-toxic, and clears quickly. No toxic byproducts, and the simulated smoke poses no danger to anyone inside or outside the building.

We used to leave town to train with live fire. Now we conduct this training safely at home — better prepared crews, closer to the people who need them.

Yesterday firefighters got a chance to work with commercial vehicles for cutting and extrication.
