April is National Child Abuse Awareness month. As such, the Archer County Child Welfare Board has put out blue pinwheels and banners at the schools and courthouse, as a reminder child abuse (in all its various forms) occurs more often than anyone would like to think.

In keeping with CCP 18.17 - Abandoned Property:

The Archer City PD currently has 12 bicycles in the property room. If you have lost a bicycle and can describe it to a reasonable degree of certainty, contact the police department at 940-574-2499.

An in-flight emergency occurred earlier today resulting in the pilot making a safe landing on FM 2581. He will get to fly another day.

Units from the Archer County Sheriff’s Office, Archer City PD, Texas Department of Public Safety and TX DOT responded to assist with road closures and directing traffic.

A structure fire earlier this afternoon was quickly suppressed by your ACVFD and Windthorst VFD.

No injuries were reported, as the only one home at the time of the fire was a dog who was able to safely escape in the grasp of Firefighter Darren Richey, who located the dog in the corner of the living room.
