"An Uncommon History of Common Courtesy: How Manners Shaped the World," by Bethanne Patrick, explores how everyday manners developed over time and influenced society, relationships, and culture. It shows that customs such as greetings, politeness, and respectful behavior reflect changing social values and help maintain cooperation. The main message is that manners are more than rules of etiquette—they shape how people interact and how communities function.
