The City of Arcadia celebrates Juneteenth. June 19 honors the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to enforce freedom of all enslaved people. The troops' arrival came more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. As the longest‑running African American holiday and a federal holiday since 2021, Juneteenth invites us to reflect on resilience, freedom, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. Want to learn more?
