💜💛 Learning was happening everywhere at CMES today!
From a Math PLC with our teachers, campus administrators, and ESC-2 specialist, to 5th grade kicking off small-group instruction, it was a great day of learning and collaboration!
📚 Students were using text evidence to support their answers on their unit test, and even Mr. Bennett jumped in to help a 5th grader work through a math problem!
Great things are happening at CMES—one student, one lesson, and one day at a time! 🐾💜💛

The Kieberger campus conducted a LOCKDOWN drill today, September 8. All our students and staff did a great job, way to go Panthers!

During the LOCKDOWN drill, all exterior and interior doors remained locked, and no one could leave or enter the building. APISD works in cooperation with APPD when conducting LOCKDOWN drills. LOCKDOWN drills are always announced as a drill.
Drills are for staff and students, and are educational opportunities to practice life safety skills. We encourage you to talk with your child about today’s LOCKDOWN drill.

What is the LOCKDOWN Action?
The LOCKDOWN Action is called when there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. LOCKDOWN uses classroom and school security actions to protect students and staff from the threat. During LOCKDOWN, students and staff move out of the line of sight of corridor windows, lights are turned off to make the room seem unoccupied, and occupants of rooms maintain silence.

Examples of LOCKDOWN Conditions
The following are some examples of when a school or emergency dispatch might call for a LOCKDOWN Action.
Dangerous animal within a school building
Intruder
An angry or violent parent, student, or other individual
Report of a weapon
Active assailant

Panthers and Lady Panthers are home tonight night versus Ingleside! Reminder, students with Perfect Attendance for the week will receive free admission to the football game with a wristband and the opportunity to run through the tunnel!

The first home varsity football game is this Friday and we're bringing back Perfect Attendance Panthers!
Students with perfect attendance at the district official attendance time (10AM) for the entire week of each home varsity football game will receive FREE admission and be eligible to run through the tunnel before the game!

This Friday:
🐾Gates open at 6:00 PM, we recommend getting to the stadium early!
🐾Students will report to the entrance to the field closest to the field house and run the field at 6:25 PM.
🐾No parents allowed on track or field.
🐾Please pick up students at the same entrance after completion of tunnel run.

Campuses will check weekly attendance on Fridays before home varsity football games and provide a wristband to each student with perfect attendance for the week. This wristband will grant the student free entry to the game.

Students must have their wristband to enter the game, and to enter the field to run through the tunnel. No replacement wristbands will be provided in the event the wristband is lost. Free admission will only be granted to the student. Accompanying parents/guardians and others with the student will be required to purchase a ticket online. The Aransas Pass Police Department has alerted Aransas Pass ISD administration to a report that APISD has been named in the “Cat in the Hat” TikTok challenge. While this is strongly believed to be a hoax, the APPD is conducting a full investigation to determine the validity and source of the post.

At this time, there is no confirmed threat to any APISD campus, however, as a precaution, there will be an increased law enforcement presence at all campuses. District and campus administration are working closely with law enforcement and will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate precautions to help ensure the safety of our students and staff.

We encourage students, parents, and community members to report any concerning behavior, threats, or additional information directly to district or campus administration or law enforcement. Please do not share, repost, or amplify this social media content, as doing so can contribute to unnecessary fear and confusion.

The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We appreciate the continued partnership of our families, community, and the APPD as we work together to maintain safe and secure schools. We will provide additional information if circumstances warrant.

The APISD Board of Trustees unanimously adopted a maintained tax rate of $0.8088 and approved the 2026–2027 budget at their August 31st Special Meeting. This includes a compensation and benefits plan that continues the district’s investment in recruiting, retaining, and supporting high-quality employees.

The plan includes a step increase for teachers, aligns compensation for several specialized professional positions with the teacher pay scale, provides an increase equal to 2% of the applicable pay-grade midpoint for other employee groups, excluding the superintendent, and expands the district’s contribution toward employee healthcare premiums by 11%.

“We see it as an investment in our people and, more importantly, a commitment to our students,” said APISD Superintendent Wayne Bennett.
