In the United States, the Veterans of Foreign Wars conducted the first nationwide distribution of remembrance poppies before Memorial Day in 1922. Today, the American Legion Auxiliary distributes crepe-paper poppies in exchange for donations around Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

"I would like to formally nominate Zach Bridges for Employee of the Month. Zach consistently shows up every day with a positive attitude and a strong willingness to take on any task that needs to be done. He goes above and beyond his assigned duties, making sure the park is clean and free of debris after games, which plays a big role in maintaining the appearance and safety of our facilities. Once Zach completes his assignments, he doesn't stop there-he is always ready to lend a hand to his coworkers and steps in whenever help is needed. He also takes responsibility for controlling the lights for practices several times a week, showing reliability and dedication to supporting park operations.
Zach is eager to learn and continually looks for ways to improve. His work ethic, teamwork, and dependability make him not only a great employee but also a great coworker. He is a big reason why the park looks as good as it does.
For these reasons, I strongly recommend Zach Bridges for Employee of the Month."
