I am so humbled to be elected for another term and excited for four more years. I also want to thank Keith Meade and Stacey Lee George for a hard fought, clean campaign.

Friends and Citizens of Arab,

I have served the City for 26 years as your Mayor and your council member. I am humbly asking you to serve for another term on your Arab City Council. The city is financially strong, we have a million dollars in our reserves. We have $1.5 million in our road and infrastructure account. Our revenue is about $900,000 above estimated revenue. The council and I have worked to improve our city equipment, paved our city streets, and upgraded drainage problems.

We’ve worked with our city school system to improve an already excellent school system. Our school system is the jewel of our city and I want to work with the administration and teachers to maintain that Excellence.

I want to continue working with the mayor and City council, Chamber of Commerce, and Industrial Development Board to recruit new Industry, and maintain the existing Industry. We don’t have an airport or railroad which hurts us. This is why I believe the Highway 69 to Cullman needs upgrading with turn lanes and a third lane where there is long stretches up hills which would connect us to interstate 65. As your Mayor I worked 6 years to get a 4 lane from Arab to Guntersville. This term I will work with the Mayor, council, our legislatures and State officials to move this forward.

We need to look at our city employees and future employees pay scale to be able to maintain our employees and pay them a fair pay for the work they do.

Friends, I love the City of Arab and am committed to making it a better place. The list below is a few accomplishments I have been a part of as both Mayor and City Council Member:

1. Financial Stability
2. City streets paved
3. Secured funding for Arab City Schools
4. Secured funding for Arab walking trails
5. Secured funding for Arab Veteran Memorial
6. Building of Arab City Hall
7. Secured federal and State fund to build Arab City Fire Department and EOC building.
8. Spearheaded and secured funding to build 4 lane from Arab to Guntersville.
9. Built 3 new ball fields at Arab city park
10. Upgraded Arab Swimming Pool
11. Helped do fund raising to build Arab Chamber of Commerce building
12. Secured funding to preserve Old City Hall
13. Worked with Arab Historic Association and secured funding to create Arab Historic Village
14. Worked with Veterans to secure building downtown
15. Secured funding to repair sidewalk downtown and other city sidewalks
16. Went to Washington and fought to secure FEMA funding that had been denied, and won.
17. Help Create an Industrial park on the East side of Arab
18. Brought hundreds of thousands of dollars from Federal and State fundings to the City of Arab.
19. Helped start recycling program in Arab, one of the first in the Southeast United States.
20. Secured funding to help Arab City School pave parking lots.
21. Secured funding for Arab police training facility
22. Helped create and secure federal funding for Arab Soccer field.
23. Worked with Arab Mayor, city Council and Arab Industrial board to purchase 20 acres for future development.
24. Worked with disabled citizens and veterans to help get federal aid.
25. Worked with Arab City Schools and Arab police to create and start the DARE program in our schools.
26. Helped secure the old Blue Bell building and find funding for revitalization of the business for recycling, then Snead State college.
27. Helped secure extra property for Arab Landfill.
28. Created and secured funding for Arab first outdoor warning system.
29. Recently put in Splash Pad at City pool
30. Recently upgraded highway 231 to bring a business to our city.
31. Worked with Mayor and city council to bring strong and stable financial accountability to our city.

Citizens of Arab, Alabama, I found out that I have an opponent in the upcoming City Council election in August. For the past 26 years I have served the people of Arab. I have served 3 terms on your city council and was elected as Mayor for 4 terms. I am asking for your support in the upcoming election.

In addition, I have also served on many city, county, and state boards. I served on the Arab Electric Board, Marshall County Gas Board, American Heart Association, Alabama Tennessee Exhibit Board, Alabama State Advisory Board to Alabama Department of Economic Development, Arab Musical Theater, and Alabama State 911 Wireless Board which I served as Chairman for 4 years. I also served on the Alabama 911 Board and was President of Alabama NENA Board for one term.

Presently I am the Director of Marshall County 911, State 911 AAND Board (Alabama Association of 911 Districts) where I served 2 terms as President, Alabama NENA Board, past President and currently serving as Vice President, Alabama AAND Legislative committee. I was recently re-appointed to a 3rd term on the Alabama Department of Homeland Security Task force by Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth. I am also a member of the Arab Chamber of Commerce.

I am a life long citizen of Arab and a life long member of Arab First United Methodist Church. I am married to Linda Betterton Hart. We have 3 children, Heather Collins, Hollis Hart, and Wesley Hart. We have 8 grandchildren and our dog, Max. I am a strong supporter of our outstanding schools and teachers, public safety, city streets, city employees, and strong financial stability. I need your support and vote August 24, 2020.
