The City of Appleton is currently accepting applications for a vacancy in Public Works. Applicants should have experience in equipment operation, refuse collection and snow plowing operations. Work will include general labor in all areas of Public Works including construction, garbage collection, equipment operation, forestry, snow & ice control, and maintenance of utilities. The City of Appleton is currently accepting applications for a vacancy in Public Works. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s traffic-related electrical equipment and facilities. Work primarily involves installing, repairing, and maintaining the City’s traffic signals and streetlights as well as other electrical equipment and data networking facilities within the City’s public rights-of-way. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Traffic Engineer.

Qualifications
Applicants should have experience as an electrician and hold a journeyman or master electrician license. Applicants must have the ability to deal effectively with the public.

This position involves very infrequent after-hours duties. It does not involve on-call responsibilities or an on-call rotation. Assigned work often involves lengthy exposure to all types of weather and direct exposure to heavy traffic.
