What a great start to our Summer Reading Program!

During our first week (June 3–5), young readers explored colors with Butler County ISU Extension & Outreach's Little Sprouts program, creating rainbow finger paintings and mixing Play-Doh colors.

We also enjoyed a visit from the Exotic Animal Petting Zoo at Miracle Park. A huge thank you to our volunteers, donors, Brothers Market Round-Up participants, AP Dance Team, ISU Extension & Outreach, and the Lions Club of Parkersburg for helping make the day a success.

To wrap up the week, Dr. Bec from Wartburg College brought reptiles to Aplington City Park and shared stories from his travels to the Amazon.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we're excited for the rest of the summer!

Please be mindful of tractor traffic when entering and exiting Aplington today to visit the library or to attend "Butterfly Encounter" at AP MS south gym.

On Monday, June 15, 2026 between the hours of 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM the Great Eastern Iowa TractorCade will be traveling from Parkersburg through Aplington and turning north onto Hickory from Highway 57/ Parriott Street. There will be a large number of tractors in each group. So if you need to do business downtown please plan accordingly. There will be six (6) groups of tractors during that time frame. Please be cautious when traveling between the two towns as well. Thank You for you cooperation.

📍 Parkersburg Library
Join Toby KID for a prehistoric adventure full of dinosaurs and fun. Sponsored by the Darlene Johnson Memorial Fund.

🔎June 18 – “Junior Naturalist Grow Lab” with Butler County Conservation
📍 Parkersburg Library
Learn, explore, and get hands-on with nature activities.
Can’t make it? Join us again on June 29 at the Aplington Community Center.

🦎June 19 – Dr. Bec’s Reptiles & Other Exotic Animals
📍 Miracle Park, Parkersburg
Back by popular demand, Wartburg Professor Dr. Bechtel returns with exotic animals and artifacts for another hands-on experience. This is the second offering of the June 5th program.

Storytime for 2025-26 school year ended with learning about clouds. We had a great group of children. During the summer, we will have 5 storytimes. We will be traveling around the world. Please come join our adventure!
