🎶 “You gotta keep 'em separated!” 🎶

When it comes to yard waste, mixing your piles isn't the move! But what is a "mixed pile"? A mixed pile is a single pile of grass, leaves, branches, weeds, etc.

When it doubt - separate them out! Mixed piles are a big issue for our vacuum trucks! The vacuum trucks only collect grass, pine straw, and leaves. Items like branches and other debris damage the truck's mechanical equipment, resulting in costly repairs and major pickup delays while it’s in the shop.

When bringing items to the curb keep in mind we do not collect dirt, soil, mulch, root balls, rocks, construction debris, etc.

We’re four months into the Salem Streetscape Project! Here’s the latest on what work is underway and what’s coming up:

• Most of the electrical and fiber conduit work along the East side of the street is complete - laying the groundwork for the new decorative streetlights.
• Crews continue working on the installation of soil cells that will support the growth of trees along Salem Street.
• All streetlight pole foundation holes have been drilled along the east side of Salem Street.
• Soon crews will begin pouring foundations for the new street light poles, installing underground trench drains for the soil cells, and installing traffic barrier posts along the edge of travelway to support Salem Street’s new curbless look!

Sidewalks and crosswalks on both sides of the street remain open and safe for pedestrians to use. As the weather warms up, take the opportunity to head Downtown to grab a cool drink, a bite to eat, or explore the fun and unique shops! Thank you for your patience and support as this streetscape transformation continues.
