Here are a few more snapshots from yesterday's Mental Health Awareness Day at Tioga Hills Elementary. Vestal parent, Danielle Meissner volunteered her time to some Mindfulness activities, which included some awesome sidewalk chalk art. Synergy Ath also spent some time connecting with the students.

Today, Tioga Hills Elementary Golden Bears focused on the importance of Mental Health through various activities designed to support mindfulness and wellness.

Students rotated through different stations that included Pilates and worry stone creation. The kids made a thumbprint in the middle of their worry stones, so that they could rub their fingers back and forth when anxious or worried.

The artwork activity was creating Zentangles, which is creating repetitive patterns, while focusing on breathing.

Another fun station was held in the music room. Students worked together as they composed songs conveying different emotions.

Thank you to our families for selling Pit Stop Popcorn for another year to help support Health for Haiti! We sold 543 bags and will be donating $2,172 from that sale directly to Haiti. That's on top of the over $1,100 we made at Open House from our basket raffle.

First and third graders at Tioga Hills Elementary were in for a treat this morning. THE parent Ü Lee read students her book, "The Strong, The Fast and the Tiny," a powerful story about working together. Also exciting, her book is being turned into an opera! Ms. Lee gave the students a sneak peek by playing selections from the opera and connecting them back to scenes from the book.

Learning the Ropes...and the Laces!

Last Friday, Tioga Hills' Student Council Shoe Tying Committee met with kindergartners to give them a hands-on shoe tying lesson. The older students showed a lot of patience and care with the younger students as the young Golden Bears built their confidence with their new shoe tying skills.

Something else that's really cool...this is the biggest Student Council Shoe Tying committee Tioga Hills Elementary has ever had, with 37 members!
