In under 48 hours, the incredible generosity of our community and supporters helped us officially reach our $3,500 fundraising goal for K9 Dexter’s protective ballistic vest.

To raise these funds in under two days is truly remarkable. For such a small town, Antrim continues to show that it has one of the biggest hearts anywhere. The support shown for K9 Dexter, Officer Girard, and the Antrim Police Department has been incredibly humbling.

On Sept 6, 2026, in Manchester, local first responders, families, and community members gathered for the New Hampshire 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb held at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Participants took on 2,200 steps—representing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center towers—to honor and remember the 343 FDNY firefighters and all the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Each participant wore a lanyard with a photo of one of the 343 firefighters; they read the name and rang the bell in remembrance.

The response to K9 Dexter’s ballistic vest fundraiser has been incredible, and we cannot thank everyone enough for the support you have shown.

In such a short amount of time, residents, businesses, friends, and supporters of the Antrim Police Department have stepped forward to help offset the cost of this important piece of protective equipment.

Among those supporters is Black Moose Chimney and Stove, who generously contributed $500! toward the campaign. We are extremely grateful for their support, along with every individual and business that has donated, shared the fundraiser, or helped spread the word.

What has been most humbling is seeing this level of generosity from a small community, especially at a time when we know household and business expenses continue to be challenging for many people.

This is exactly what makes Antrim such a special place. Our community has consistently supported its police department, its officers, and K9 Dexter, and I never take that support for granted.

Dexter will have the protection he needs. Your generosity simply helps us provide it while minimizing the amount that needs to come from municipal funding.

Thank you to every single person who has contributed.

🐾 HELP SUPPORT K9 DEXTER 🐾

The Antrim Police Association is helping raise $3,500 through Spike's K9 Fund toward the cost of a protective ballistic vest for K9 Dexter.

This fundraiser is not about whether Dexter will receive the protection he needs. Rather, it is an opportunity to help offset the cost by seeking outside funding for an important piece of equipment.

When the Antrim Police Department established its K9 program, we were fortunate to receive significant support from the Stanton Foundation, whose grant helped cover the initial costs of bringing Dexter to Antrim and getting the program started. Whenever possible, we continue to look for grants, donations, and other outside funding opportunities that allow us to provide our officers—and Dexter—with the equipment they need while reducing the financial impact on the Town.

Dexter is a 2-year-old Dutch Shepherd who serves alongside Officer Girard as a fully certified dual-purpose police K9, trained in both patrol work and narcotics detection. His work can place him in the same unpredictable and potentially dangerous situations faced by the officers he serves beside, and a properly fitted ballistic vest provides an additional layer of protection while he is working.

Through Spike’s K9 Fund, members of our community and supporters of police K9 programs have an opportunity to contribute directly toward that equipment cost.

•As students return to school, please remember to slow down, watch for pedestrians, and stay extra alert in school zones and residential areas.

•Watch for school buses: Stop when required and never pass a bus with its red lights flashing.

•Give yourself extra time, put the phone down, and remember that a few seconds of patience can help prevent a tragedy.

Congratulations Officer Bernier for graduating the 203rd full-time NH Police Academy this afternoon.  She will begin her field training with the Antrim Police Department next week. We look forward to her being part of our team!

The Antrim Police Department is honored to support New England Run for the Fallen, a meaningful event dedicated to honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

As the runners make their way through our community, we’ll be there to help support the event and ensure a safe route for everyone involved.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

The run continues tomorrow morning on Route 9 heading east towards Hillsboro. Please use caution.

***Update*** Dixie has been reunited with her owner. Thank you.

Ms. ‘Dixie’, a lost tan German Shepherd who is currently hanging out safely at the Antrim Police Department while we try to reunite her with her family. She was found roaming around on Elm Avenue this afternoon. Wearing a bandana with Dixie on it.
