In September 1987, I retired as a Master Chief Cryptologic Technician Interpretive (Russian Linguist) after 24 years of Active Duty. During that time I served on fast attack nuclear submarines, surface ships, unarmed reconnaissance aircraft and overseas. I was the Command Chief at two overseas stations, the Operations Chief at three overseas bases and completed my Navy career as the National Security Agency (Cryptologic Training System) Representative to the Defense Language Institute/Foreign Language Center at the Presidio of Monterey, overseeing language training in 47 languages and dialects to federal civilian and military personnel.
