Domestic Disturbance Investigation Leads to Felony Arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle.
Antioch, Illinois (May 27th, 2026) – The Village of Antioch Police Department has arrested a 60-year-old Antioch resident following an incident in which he allegedly attempted to strike his brother with a pickup truck.
On Tuesday, May 26th, 2026, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Antioch Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of 460 Orchard Street, the former Piggly Wiggly location, for a reported disturbance that occurred in a nearby parking lot.
The victim reported that his brother, 60-year-old George Stachura, had attempted to strike him with a Dodge pickup truck before fleeing the area. The victim told police that Stachura had become upset with him and attempted to run him over with the truck. The victim, who was able to move out of the way of the truck without being struck, was not injured during the incident.
During the investigation, officers interviewed two additional witnesses. One witness also provided officers with cell phone video footage capturing a portion of the event.
A few hours later, Antioch Police officers located Stachura and took him into custody without incident.
Following review of the facts of the case, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office charged George Stachura with:
Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle
720 ILCS 5/12-2(c)(7)
Class 4 Felony
If convicted, a Class 4 felony is punishable by 1 to 3 years in prison and fines of up to $25,000.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Stachura was transported to the Lake County Courthouse for a first appearance hearing where he was detained until his detention hearing tomorrow (May 28th, 2026).
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
