Join us virtually for "Babel-On with R.F. Kuang", on Wednesday, May 20 at 7pm.

Academic yet approachable, Kuang’s work combines history, magic, and classical literary tradition to render powerful critiques of academia, the publishing industry, and even contemporary popular culture. Her bestselling titles include Yellowface, Babel, and The Poppy War trilogy, and she is the recipient of the Nebula Award for Best Novel, the Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Fiction, and the American Book Award.

This event is intended for adults. Please note that ‘Illinois Libraries Present’ programs are available exclusively to patrons within the Antioch Public Library District and other member library service areas.

This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present (ILP), a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events. ILP is funded in part by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library, a department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

Looking for a new read this spring? Sign up for our personalized book box for young adult fiction fans in grades 6-12. Complete a quick questionnaire and Library staff will custom select a book just for you! The box will also contain a few bookish surprises along with a snack or two to enjoy while you read. Bring the book and box back when they are due but the rest is yours to keep!

This year's Summer Reading Program theme is Plant A Seed, Read celebrating growing in reading with a gardening twist and featuring art by John Jory and Pete Oswald, author and illustrator of 'The Bad Seed' and 'The Good Egg.' We are following this theme through the iRead Summer Reading Program. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Antioch Library Friends.

Express yourself as you make your own mini-magazines using collage, drawing, writing, and mixed-media techniques! You can share a story, make a comic, or write some poetry. You can even photocopy your zine to share it with your community.

April 1–11, submissions were accepted for APLD’s Album Redesign Contest, part of the Sounds and Stories music appreciation initiative at the Library. We partnered with Reef Records to judge the entries, and the results are in! Browse the photos to take a look at five outstanding redesigns, ranked by overall placement.

Our first-place winners by category are:
Children’s: Eliana M., redesign of Un Verano Sin Ti by Bad Bunny
Teen: Leah F., redesign of Who Really Cares by TV Girl
Staff: Carter T., redesign of An Awesome Wave by Alt-J
