Small (Small lăo shī ) is a native Mandarin speaker from Taiwan. She graduated from the University of Lin-Tong, in Taiwan, with a BA in Business Administration. After graduation, she found employment as a foreign sales representative for a technology company. Through her work, Mrs. Small’s language skills and interaction with customers led her to study and practice English. She is passionate about

working with students and teaching Mandarin. Small started her teaching career with kindergarten to 8th grade as a part time teacher at an Arizona public elementary school in 2011. Small has been a Mandarin Specialist at Lone Mountain Elementary School, in the Cave Creek Unified School District for 5 years. She currently teaches from kindergarten to 6th grade. Through the years of teaching, Mrs. Small found that the eagerness and willingness of young minds, and their innate language capabilities, were a pleasure to work with. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She received a SEI (structural English immersion) endorsement in 2014 and was awarded the Chinese Teaching Innovation Teacher of the Year by the ASU Confucius Institute in 2015. From Mrs. Small:
