We have an urgent need for adults to coach middle school athletic sessions starting next week! We specifically need a flag football coach at C**n Rapids Middle School, a volleyball and soccer coach at Roosevelt Middle School, and a soccer coach at Anoka Middle School. Commitment is 4-5 weeks. In most cases Monday - Thursday after school from 3 – 5 pm.

FREE Newborn Class: Foundations for Families at Mercy hospital!

Join us to help ease the transition into life with your new baby in a supportive, open environment. You will connect with other new parents, ask questions, talk about concerns, gain professional advice and laugh together. There will be breastfeeding support, the opportunity to weigh your baby and time to ask questions. Classes are led by a licensed Parent and Family Educator and Registered Nurse/IBCLC.

Start anytime and come as many times as you would like until your baby is 12 weeks old.

Our Early Learning teams are also gearing up for a new season. Staff from all Anoka-Hennepin Early Childhood programs gathered at an off-site location Thursday to connect and learn.

Superintendent Greg Cole stopped by to say a few words as well as Michelle Trelstad, Executive Director of Community Education. Professional development sessions included a keynote from Ann Vote who presented on influencing success through everyday actions. And check out the photo of all the baskets that were donated for classrooms by the Early Learning PTO.

Our Community Schools crew jumped into a new school year with a team meeting at the Educational Service Center on Wednesday. These are the staff members who run Community Education’s youth enrichment activities, middle school athletics, rec programs and aquatics. Superintendent Greg Cole stopped by to welcome the group back. They also took part in professional development focused on knowing your why, so your what becomes more impactful.

Community Ed’s Parent Involvement team hosted a back-to-school kick off meeting for volunteer service coordinators Monday morning. VSCs from each elementary school gathered at the Educational Service Center to get information and gear up for a new school year as they prepare to coordinate the many dedicated volunteers who work in each building.

In the ‘Sports of All Sorts’ youth summer class, students had a chance to try different kinds of sports, including flag football. Check them out as they practice drills, catching, throwing, and have fun playing outside! 🏈
