Amazing work team

Recently one of our deputies came across a vehicle in Shafer that had the wrong license plates on it and was parked outside a business. The deputy began speaking with the male and female that occupied the vehicle. When he asked about the license plate the female said she put different plates on it so she could drive it around. She also did not have a valid drivers license.

The female took full ownership of the vehicle, and we did not have a reason to detain the male any longer. After he left, and through some more digging, the male was able to be identified, and was found to have two nation-wide, extraditable warrants.

Some very helpful neighbors reported seeing the male going into a house in Shafer. When deputies got to the house, they determined the male was hiding in a crawl space in the basement. He needed some persuasion from K9 Judge and with the assistance of some PepperBall as well, before he crawled out and was arrested.

K9 Ollie is on a roll! 🐾🚔

A few nights ago, K9 Ollie and Deputy Kuhnly responded to Esko to assist the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office with the arrest of a male wanted on felony warrants.

Law enforcement had reason to believe the suspect was hiding in the attic of a residence. Deputy Kuhnly made several K9 announcements at the attic opening, but received no response.

K9 Ollie began searching the attic and located the suspect, who was buried in insulation in an attempt to conceal himself. K9 Ollie apprehended the suspect.

Our K9s Continue to Produce for the Community!

Last week, Deputy Kuhnly and K9 Ollie crossed the bridge to assist our partners at the Superior Police Department.

Officers responded to a disturbance on the beach at Wisconsin Point. At some point before law enforcement arrived, a suspect had discharged a handgun. The suspect was located in nearby woods, but the firearm was nowhere to be found. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the weapon.

That’s when K9 Ollie went to work.

Ollie was able to reverse-track the suspect approximately 75 yards into the woods. Deputy Kuhnly noticed the leash had gone slack, indicating that Ollie had stopped tracking. Deputy Kuhnly pushed through the vegetation and discovered Ollie in a down position—with the pistol lying directly in front of him!

With the firearm located so close to a beach frequently occupied by children, finding it was absolutely critical to keeping the community safe.

This is a huge success for K9 Ollie and Deputy Kuhnly, who put their training and skills to work protecting the community!

Today was a tear filled Day in Deer Lake . !! Our good friend Ryan had his funeral service today. There was an incredible outpouring from members of law enforcement and first responders and all
Who knew Ryan. Ryan’s service was difficult for all of us and all who knew this man. He was a man of great character. And so many tears were shed by every person who attended the service . It speaks
Volumes of how Ryan lived his life … “Gundy” may God grant you peace .. I will miss you my brother LOVE MAC ❤️

I had the honor and Great pleasure attending Operation K-9 ,Northland K-9.. it was a fantastic show and I was so proud of all of my students . To stand on the field with them was a true honor and unexpected surprise . I am so Proud !!
