On December 6, 2025, SPC Matin, a Soldier in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, proudly became a United States citizen. Born and raised in Afghanistan, SPC Matin’s journey reflects perseverance, courage, and a deep commitment to his new homeland.
Now serving as a 91B Wheel Vehicle Mechanic with the 121st Transportation Company, SPC Matin continues a legacy of service that began with his work for the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan. His story is a powerful reminder that the spirit of service knows no borders.

🇺🇸 Leadership on the Ground | Recognizing Excellence 🇺🇸
On Sunday, January 11, 2026, BG Francis Montgomery, Assistant Adjutant General, visited Soldiers of the 131st Transportation Company, 228th Motor Transportation Battalion, as they prepared for an upcoming mobilization.
While at Fort Indiantown Gap, Soldiers were hard at work pressure washing equipment and preparing it for overseas movement—demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and attention to detail throughout this multi-day operation.
During the visit, BG Montgomery recognized PFC Alvin Bunch and SGT Matthew Newell for their exceptional performance and dedication. Their efforts reflect the high standards and pride of the 131st TC and the 228th MTB.
The unit is scheduled to deploy to Poland in April 2026 in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve (OAR). We are proud of our Soldiers and their continued commitment to mission readiness.

This week, our companies across the 228th Motor Transport Battalion opened their doors for something truly special—holiday gatherings with our Soldiers and their families.

From food and games to kids laughing and Soldiers catching up, each unit made the season brighter in their own way. These moments remind us that the strength of our formation comes not just from our Soldiers, but from the families who stand beside them. ❤️
