: Annual Fire Hydrant Testing: 5/18/26 - 6/30/26

🚒 The Anniston Fire Department will begin annual fire hydrant testing throughout the city starting today, May 18, 2026.

Testing will continue through June 30, 2026.

These inspections are an important part of maintaining public safety and ensuring that hydrants across Anniston are functioning properly in the event of an emergency.

Regular hydrant testing also helps the department maintain its excellent ISO rating, which can help support lower insurance costs for homeowners and businesses.

We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as crews complete this important work throughout the city.

If you know anything about the Anniston Fire Department you know that everything we do, we do it well. From Softball tournaments, Fire vs Police basketball, homerun derby, golfing, fighting fires and saving lives... Heck, Anniston is even known for having the best water in the state. Add pizza eating as another thing we're the best at. These two, Lieutenant Richard Linton and Sergeant Philip Snyder of B-Shift Station 3, went gut to gut with every first responder you could imagine in this Piezilla Battle of the Badges. The competition couldn't hold a candle, or their pizza, against these two. The Anniston Fire Department will never back down from a challenge.

The Anniston Fire crew stayed busy throughout the day while providing medical coverage for the One World Canine Obstacle Run. From treating minor scrapes and dehydration to assisting exhausted runners across the course, firefighters and medics remained on standby to ensure the safety of every participant and their four-legged teammates. Despite the fast pace and constant calls for assistance, the crew maintained a professional attitude and worked seamlessly together to keep the event running safely and smoothly from start to finish. Crews will be on site tomorrow for the final day as well!!

Royce Anderson took it upon himself to chase Advanced EMT immediately after following basic EMT. Today, he found out he passed registry first try! The fire service needs more self-driven individuals like Firefighter Anderson. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

A HUGE thank you to Towing for supplying the Anniston Regional Training Center with enough cars for two classes to learn on. The classes went over accessing potential victims in ANY scenario. Because of them we were able to help equip 30 motivated firefighters from across Alabama.
