It is a busy week at Anniston Fire Department Station 6 (Airport). Talladega Race week always provides an abundance of aircraft coming and going.

When I vote on November 3rd I’ll be thinking about the taxes we pay on groceries and the cost of gas. I’ll be thinking about our public schools and whether we’re doing enough to prepare our children for the workforce. I’ll be thinking about healthcare access and the families who go without care because they can’t afford it. I’ll be thinking about rural hospitals and access to maternal care.

I’ll be thinking about affordable housing and the need for better jobs and wages. I’ll also be thinking about the barriers our municipalities face when trying to grow and the need for partners in Montgomery.

At the end of the day we serve the same people. Our communities deserve access to resources and opportunities that help them thrive. These are the issues that affect our everyday lives and they deserve our attention long after Election Day.

There is ONE thing I need all these anonymous pages to do. Tell everyone to VOTE on November 3rd!

Sometimes we focus so much on national politics that we forget how much decisions made right here in Alabama impact our everyday lives.

The Governor and state legislators make decisions that affect our schools, roads, public safety, healthcare, economic development, and the resources available to our cities.

As Mayor, I see firsthand how state funding and legislation can impact what smaller cities like Anniston are able to accomplish. Local government cannot do it alone, and the decisions made in Montgomery matter right here at home.

I’m not telling anyone who to vote for. I’m simply encouraging you to educate yourself, research the candidates, and understand what is on your ballot.

November 3rd matters. Meet me at the polls!
