The Sheriff’s Office is comprised of three bureaus: Administration, Field Operations and Security Operations. The Administration Bureau is overseen by the Chief Deputy and houses the Sheriff’s Administrative staff including Human Resources, Finance and Training. The Field Operations Bureau is supervised by a Sheriff’s Captain who is responsible for the Warrant Teams, Civil Process Unit, Document

Control Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, Communications Center, and K-9 Unit. The Security Operations Bureau is supervised by a Sheriff’s Captain who is responsible for the Transport and Detention Unit and the Security Teams, which are responsible for building and courtroom safety.

Sheriff Sesker and the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office invite you to our upcoming Purple Lights Night event. This gathering aims to raise awareness about domestic violence and provide support to those affected.
This year, we will meet at the Anne Arundel County Circuit Courthouse on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM. The event will feature courageous speakers, including survivors of domestic violence, who will share their powerful stories.
Resources will also be available for anyone experiencing domestic violence or anyone who knows someone experiencing domestic violence. Remember, there is hope. We encourage you to join us at this significant event as we stand together in solidarity. All are welcome to attend!

Following up on our post from yesterday about Honorary Chief Joey, we couldn’t resist sharing a few more special behind-the-scenes moments featuring Sheriff Sesker and our Anne Arundel County deputies.

While we shared Joey’s incredible story of courage yesterday, today we just want to focus on the pure joy captured in these photos. Having the opportunity to talk, laugh, and share the afternoon with this remarkable young man left a lasting impact on Sheriff Sesker and every single deputy in attendance. His strength and positivity are contagious.

Sheriff Sesker and the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office were honored to attend the swearing-in ceremony of honorary Police Chief Joey Stanger. Hosted by the Prince George’s County Police, the event brought together various law enforcement agencies and firefighters to recognize an extraordinary child named Joey Stanger. At just ten years old, Joey is bravely battling cancer and has a deep admiration for the police. During the event, he met numerous police officers, troopers, deputies, and firefighters. Joey was warmly welcomed into the first responder family and officially became an honorary Police Chief. His courage and spirit serve as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the true meaning of bravery.

Our deputies recently had the chance to meet a dog named Whistle at the Anne Arundel County Animal Shelter. Whistle is a two-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback in search of his forever home. Beware of Scammers

The Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a current phone scam in which individuals identify themselves as the “Anne Arundel Sheriff’s Department.” These scammers attempt to pressure people into sending money to satisfy alleged warrants for their arrest or for failing to appear for jury duty.

This theft scheme has resurfaced, and these individuals are NOT affiliated with the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office. Please note that members of the Sheriff’s Office serve warrants but do NOT accept or collect money to resolve court matters.

Anyone who receives these calls must NOT provide personal information and must NOT arrange to send payment. Utility companies, reputable organizations, and government agencies will NEVER contact you demanding immediate payment, especially via Venmo, Green Dot Money Pak cards, other preloaded payment cards, or Western Union money transfers.
