Welcome, 2/C families! 🇺🇸⚓️

In support of 2/C Parents’ Weekend, Sept. 4–6, gate hours at the U.S. Naval Academy will be adjusted. If you’re headed to the Yard this weekend, please plan accordingly:

📍 GATE 1
Friday, Sept. 4
🚗 Vehicles: 6 a.m.–10 p.m.
🚶 Pedestrians: 6 a.m.–11:59 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 5
🚗 Vehicles: 6 a.m.–6 p.m.
🚶 Pedestrians: 6 a.m.–11:59 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 6
🚗 Vehicles: 6 a.m.–6 p.m.
🚶 Pedestrians: 6 a.m.–10 p.m.

Credentialed turnstile access remains available 24/7. Gate 1 Outer Gate is closed midnight–6 a.m.

Friday: Pedestrians 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m.; credentialed turnstile access 24/7
Saturday & Sunday: Pedestrians closed; credentialed turnstile access 24/7

🌊 NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH | WEEK 1

🇺🇸 Annapolis Stand Ready: Know Your Waters

Living in Annapolis means we know how much we depend on the water and how quickly conditions can change.

From hurricanes and tropical storms to coastal flooding, high winds and severe thunderstorms, weather can impact the Chesapeake region with little notice.

This week, take a few minutes to prepare for the hazards that can affect our community:

🌧️ Know your flood risk
📱 Sign up for local emergency alerts
🌊 Know where to find information about severe weather and flooding
🔋 Keep flashlights, batteries and backup power ready
🏠 Know where you'll go if you need to leave home

And remember: don't drive through flooded roads. Turn around, don't drown.

Preparedness starts with knowing what could happen and having a plan for it.

Annapolis knows the water. Let's make sure we're ready for it, too.

🏃 Annapolis 10-Miler: Traffic Impacts — Sunday, Aug. 30

The 51st annual Annapolis 10-Miler will bring approximately 3,500 runners to the area Sunday morning. Expect traffic impacts around USNA and NSA Annapolis from approximately 7–9:30 a.m.

🚧 Gate 1: Metered vehicle traffic from 7:15–8 a.m. Normal weekend operations resume at 8 a.m.
🚧 Gate 8/Naval Academy Bridge: Closed to vehicles, except emergency response, from 7:15–9:30 a.m.
🚧 North Severn: Traffic restrictions and closures on portions of Route 648 from approximately 7:30–8:45 a.m.

Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Gate 1 access before 8 a.m.: Drivers should use MD-2 South → MD-665 East → Bay Ridge Ave → Sixth St. Follow police directions. Only credentialed drivers will be permitted to proceed toward USNA Gate 1.

The planned emergency response training exercise conducted today by Naval Support Activity Annapolis and the U.S. Naval Academy has concluded.

🚨 Training Exercise Underway 🚨

A planned emergency response training exercise is now underway at the U.S. Naval Academy involving Naval Support Activity Annapolis and U.S. Naval Academy.

During this time, you may notice increased emergency vehicle activity, and sounds associated with the exercise in the area.

This is a training exercise. There is no threat to the public.

A separate post will be shared when the exercise concludes.

We appreciate the community's understanding as responders train to maintain readiness and enhance coordination capabilities.

Later today, from 1400 to 1600, Naval Support Activity Annapolis and U.S. Naval Academy will conduct a planned training exercise at the U.S. Naval Academy.

During this time, you may notice increased emergency vehicle activity, and sounds associated with the exercise in the area. Personnel on the installation may receive exercise-related notifications through Giant Voice and AtHoc.

Residents near USNA may hear training-related noises during the exercise.

This is a scheduled training event, and there is no threat to the public.
