The Anne Arundel County Police Department will be holding their 3rd annual Drug Awareness Camp August 12-16 at Camp Barrett in Annapolis.

The free camp is open to children going into the 5th and 6th grade. The goal of this camp is to provide the campers with the knowledge and confidence to prevent the misuse of drugs. Officers will be utilizing the Elks Drug Awareness Program and D.A.R.E. lessons daily to teach the campers drug facts, the dangers of drugs and how to resist using them as well as the importance of having a support network.

Campers will also take part in the following activities throughout the week.

Obstacle Course
Team Building Exercises
Team games: Kickball, Dodgeball, Gaga Ball, Relay Races, Frisbee Golf
Learn how to safely handle and operate a BB / Pellet guns at the range
Learn how to safely handle and operate a Bow and Arrow at the archery range
Water Games
Pool Time (last 2 hours of every day)

Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.

To mark International Overdose Awareness Day, state flags have been lowered to remember all who have lost their life to substance use disorder.

This is not only a day to honor their memories, it is a call to action—we must all work together to get help to those who need it.

Peer Support Staff are expected to engage in direct work with clients and in indirect work that supports their work with clients.

The main types of direct work are advocacy, connecting to resources, experiential sharing, building community, relationship building, group facilitation, skill-building/mentoring/goal setting, and socialization/self-esteem building.

The main types of indirect work are group planning and development, administration, team communication, receiving support, education/awareness building, and information gathering and verification.

Other specific duties around the house that will be expected are cleaning, cooking, and laundry when needed.

Computer competency is required (i.e. internet use, Microsoft word/excel, basic data entry).
The applicant should be comfortable with conflict resolution.
Must be able to pass a drug test.
Background check required (willing to overlook non-major offenses).
Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated.

(2) 12-hour shifts - Saturday into Sunday and Sunday into Monday

Elevate Recovery Centers is excited to say we have received our Medicaid ID and can now accept people with private and state insurance. We are looking forward to building with our community to offer our support in any way we can. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and love from everyone and are ready to help today!

Not My Child is an educational outreach program initiated by County Executive Steve Schuh to stop addiction before it starts. Please attend and join the effort. Bring the kids!
