With the warmer weather arriving, we want everyone to enjoy the outdoors safely! Weโve seen an increase in ATVs and dirt bikes in our neighborhoods. While these vehicles are great for the trails, using them on public streets isn't just dangerousโit's ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐l under Maryland law.

According to the Maryland Vehicle Law (Title 13, ยง13-402), any motor vehicle driven on a highway must be registered and insured. Most ATVs and dirt bikes do not meet the equipment requirements for registration.

๐๐ข๐๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ: Riding through community parks or green spaces where motorized vehicles are prohibited.

๐ข๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ: Causing damage to school property is a crime (Damage of $1,000 or more carries up to 3 years in prison)

๐๐ญ๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐-๐๐จ๐๐: Keep your riding to designated off-road vehicle (ORV) trails or private property where you have explicit permission.
๐๐๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฅ๐๐: Maryland law requires all ATVs and off-road motorcycles to be titled.
๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ: If you are using Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) trails, ensure you have a valid ORV Registration Decal ($10/year).
๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ซ ๐๐ญ: Use a truck or trailer to transport your vehicle to authorized riding areas. Do not ride it to the destination.
