Teacher of the Year Nomination: Colleen Carrabus
Colleen Carrabus embodies the very best of what it means to be an educator and a member of the Eastport Crew. She brings positivity, joy, and a genuine love for students to everything she does. Her classroom is a place where students feel valued, supported, and challenged to reach their highest potential.
Colleen holds high expectations for student learning while creating an environment where every student is encouraged to believe in themselves and take ownership of their growth. Her strong instructional strategies, thoughtful planning, and commitment to meeting the needs of all learners have a meaningful impact on student achievement. She consistently looks for ways to strengthen her practice and ensure that students are actively engaged in meaningful learning.
Beyond her classroom, Colleen is a tremendous support to her colleagues. She willingly shares her knowledge, collaborates with others, celebrates the successes of those around her, and is always ready to lend a helping hand. Her positivity is contagious, and she contributes so much to the culture, collaboration, and sense of community at Eastport.
Colleen leads with heart, purpose, and joy. She makes students better, makes colleagues better, and makes our school better simply by being part of it. We are truly blessed to have Colleen as a member of our Crew, and she is incredibly deserving of being recognized as Eastport Elementary’s Teacher of the Year Nominee.
