FUN FACT FRIDAY!!!

FLAG DAY IS THIS WEEKEND πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The American flag has been modified 27 times since 1777.
Did you know that every part of the American flag has a special meaning?
⭐ The 50 stars represent the 50 states in the United States.
πŸ”΄βšͺ The 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies that declared independence from Great Britain in 1776.
πŸŸ₯ Red symbolizes valor and bravery.
⬜ White symbolizes purity and innocence.
🟦 Blue symbolizes vigilance, perseverance, and justice.
πŸ“… Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 because on that day in 1777, the Second Continental Congress adoption of the United States flag approved the first official American flag.

There is a U.S. Flag Code that provides guidance on the respectful display and handling of the flag. Check It out

Brush 19 is used for special events, brush fires, wires down calls, and as a medical first responder when other units are not available. Brush 19 can also be used to access areas too tight for a full size fire engine such as a parking garage or winding rural driveway.

Fun Fact Friday - Memorial Day Weekend Safety

Did you know?
Just 6 inches of moving water can knock an adult off their feet, and 12 inches can carry away a vehicle. Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

As we head into a rainy Memorial Day weekend, keep these safety tips in mind:

βœ… Slow down on wet roads
βœ… Watch children closely around pools & water
βœ… Charge phones and flashlights in case of storms
βœ… As the weather clears remember to keep grills at least 10 feet from homes & decks
βœ… Never leave campfires unattended

Whether you’re traveling, grilling, or relaxing at home, our department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

β€οΈπŸŽ–οΈ We also pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country πŸš’

βš“οΈ Fun Fact Friday + National Safe Boating Week 🚀

May 16–22 is National Safe Boating Week, and here’s your reminder from the members of the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company:

Did you know?
🌊 Most boating accidents happen on nice days with calm water.
🦺 The #1 lifesaving tool on any boat is a properly fitted life jacket.
πŸ“± Filing a float plan and carrying a charged phone or marine radio can save critical time in an emergency.

As boating season kicks off around the Bay, our crews are always ready to respond.
A few simple safety steps can make all the difference.
βœ… Wear your life jacket
βœ… Boat sober, just like on the road impaired driving is illegal
βœ… Check the weather before heading out
βœ… Keep an eye on everyone onboard, especially children

Have fun, stay safe, and we’ll see you on the water this summer! πŸŒžπŸš’

FUN FACT FRIDAY!!!

Dalmatians played an important role in the fire service especially in the era of horse drawn fire engines.

Firefighters used dalmatians to run along side and ahead of the engines. The dogs acted like sirens by barking, alerting pedestrians to move out of the way. They also had a natural compatibility with the horses and would stay with the horses not only calming them down during the fires, but to keep thieves away who might try to come and steal them.

When motorized fire engines made Dalmatians' path-clearing role obsolete, firefighters kept them as mascots to honor their history. Though we do not have a companion of our own, we would love to see yours. Post a photo of your spotted hero below!
