Over the past two weeks, there has been a surge of ICE activity in Anne Arundel County and across the state of Maryland. These mass deportation operations conducted by ICE agents who are seldom held accountable for their actions make our communities less safe.

ICE operations under this federal administration are not targeting violent criminals. Most of the people detained during this surge have never been convicted or charged with a crime. Many have lived and worked here for years, raised their families, started businesses, and become integral members of our community.

Our Family Protection Hotline experienced a 50% increase in calls over the last two weeks. We heard from a family whose child was in the car when ICE pulled them over and took her father. Instead of focusing on the start of a new school year, she and her siblings are worried about where he is and what might happen to him.

Many families have lost their household's primary breadwinner and are trying to figure out how they can get by. If you feel called to help, you can donate to the Family Protection Fund at https://cfaac.org/family-protection-fund/ to support local nonprofits in providing legal aid, family stability resources, and support to immigrant families in our county. Por el Mes de la Herencia Hispana y en apoyo al programa Fuerza Latina, el Enlace Hispano de Annapolis, desde la oficina del Alcalde Jared Littmann, le invita a compartir una historia de superación.

Nuestra comunidad, se construye sobre la base del esfuerzo y la perseverancia. Queremos escuchar la historia de aquellas mujeres y hombres latinos, que enfrentando grandes dificultades y obstáculos, han persistido hasta convertirse en un vivo ejemplo de triunfo y resiliencia.

Nuestro objetivo, es reconocer historias de crecimiento, compromiso y fortaleza, resaltando el impacto positivo de nuestra comunidad.; ayúdenos a inspirar a otros y a visibilizar el impacto de nuestra cultura.

La oficina de Emergencias de Annapolis informa que HOY Jueves 27, a medida que un frente frío se acerca y atraviesa la zona, se prevé una ronda de chubascos y tormentas eléctricas que comenzará entre las 14:00 y las 22:00 (2 a 10pm) horas. Las condiciones favorecen la formación de tormentas de intensidad fuerte a severa, con una probabilidad de precipitación del 50 %.
