🚒🎃 Happy Halloween from your local firefighters! 🎃🚒

We might be on duty tonight, but that doesn’t mean we’re missing out on the fun! 👻 Bring the kids by the firehouse for some Halloween candy and a quick hello — we’d love to see everyone’s costumes while we’re here keeping watch and ready to respond.

Stay safe, have fun, and remember to wear something bright and watch for traffic.

👍IT’S OK TO HAVE FUN👍

We know It’s ok to love the job.
But we are here to say…
It’s ok to have fun while doing the job! Because, let’s face it, IT IS A FUN JOB‼️

We never wish for anyone’s misfortune. Let’s just make that abundantly clear. But, the fact of the matter is, bad stuff and emergencies are going to happen regardless. So if we can be the absolute best at our job, enjoy the work AND help our community at the same time, it’s a win win!

❌STOP ACTING LIKE IT’S BAD TO SAY “BEING A FIREFIGHTER IS FUN”❌

Yes, this job can be serious, dangerous, stressful and every other negative word you can think of to describe a job. But on the flip side, it can be the most fulfilling, rewarding, fun or any other positive word you can describe a job with!

We don’t call it the best job in the world because it’s boring and NOT fun. And we SURELY do not do it for the money. We do it because we LOVE it and it’s a great time!

Helping people is rewarding.
Kicking a fire in its teeth is exhilarating.
Riding down the street on a fire truck with lights and sirens is a blast.
Being part of the brotherhood / fire family is great.
Knowing that you are truly making a difference is fulfilling.

Look, the secret is out. Yes, our job exists to help people, but firemen love this job because of the fun stuff we are able to do. And it’s ok to admit that!

“If you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right!”
Wise words from the late James Michael Muller

Today we remember one of our own Lt. Snyder. Our thoughts continue to be with his family.

1 year ago we lost our brother, Lieutenant Josh Snyder. Josh was hired in September of 2006 and was a graduate of the Anne Arundel County Fire Academy Class 47. He was assigned to the Taylor Avenue Station as a member of our Special Operations Team until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2017 when he was reassigned to the Eastport Station. He received several accolades, letters of Commendations and a Unit Citation throughout his career.

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that the Anne Arundel County Fire Department family announces the passing of Firefighter III L. Wayne Brown. Wayne proudly served the residents of Anne Arundel County for 21 years and was most recently assigned to Station 5, Waugh Chapel, as the apparatus driver on B shift. Wayne was an active and proud member of our department who sadly suffered a cardiac medical event while at his home on October 6, 2022.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica, his five children, Justin, Nicholas, Summer, Mason, and Kinsley. His parents, Larry and Gertrude, and his three sisters, Christine, Michelle, and Gina, along with numerous family and friends.

This is a tremendous loss and Wayne will be greatly missed by all who worked with him over his many years of service with Anne Arundel County.
