Today at the post theater, we celebrated the lateral appointment of one of our newest 1SGs. 1SG David King, welcome to HHC, USAG and Headquarters Command Battalion. During the ceremony CSM Krese talked about the history and significance of the First Sergeant. Everyone does not get the opportunity to serve as one.

Please join us on Friday, August 8th at 1330 to witness the Change of Responsibility ceremony of 1SG Ashley Lowery as she relinquishes her responsibilities to 1SG David King. Again, congratulations 1SG King!!

HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM TODAY! 🌞 ☀️

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 109 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of DC, central, north central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and northern and northwest Virginia.

* WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on your Soldiers, families and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

What a game!!!! Tonight Team Axehammers won their second softball game of the season with a score of 23-0! They played like the true champions we always knew they were. The team is coached by Mr. Connor Ferreri. SFC Marlon Ortega and SGT Tyler Shelton (team pitcher) are assistant coaches. Thank you to all of the Soldiers, friends and Families that came out to Donahue Field to support the Axehammer 🪓 softball team. Keep up the great work team!!!

History of the Headquarters Command Battalion

The Army established the Headquarters Command Battalion on 9 February 1971. Today, multiple military occupational specialties make up the Headquarters Battalion. However, the unique and diverse mission of this battalion make it one of the most mulit-faceted units in the United States Army.

It’s persennel staff, Headquarters Command Battalion provide a broad spectrum of administrative and logistical support to the Fort Meade Community. The Military Police Detachment provides security, traffic, and investigation support for Fort George G. Meade. The Military Working Dog Detachment provides Military Working Dogs to perform law and order on the installation. And the Headquarters Company provides administrative and logistical support to several partner units.

The Soldiers of Headquarters Command Battalion are committed to sustaining the highest state of readiness and providing the highest quality of service order response to contingency missions.
