Yesterday, our community gathered at the Annandale Hose Company 9/11 Memorial to mark 25 years since September 11, 2001, to remember the lives lost, honor those who answered the call, and stand beside those who still carry the weight of that day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Your presence helped keep a promise that matters deeply: those we lost will never be forgotten.

Our heartfelt thanks to keynote speaker John Mulligan for his moving and inspirational speech; Immaculate Conception School (ICS Choir); the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5119 Honor Guard; and Elizabeth Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Clarke for his musical tribute.

We also thank President Marc Strauss, Past Chief Steven Williams, and Chaplain Charles Riddle for guiding this time of remembrance. A special thank-you to Chief Stephen Dombrowski for his support of the ceremony.

We are grateful to ShopRite of Clinton, the North Hunterdon Rotary Club, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Clinton Township Police Department, South Branch Emergency Services, and Mayor Mullay for their support, and to our members and volunteers who helped bring the ceremony together.

To everyone we have not mentioned by name, please know that your support and contributions are deeply appreciated. Thank you for being part of this remembrance.

Today, Our Community Remembers

Today marks 25 years since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Communities across our nation will pause to remember the lives lost and the countless acts of courage and selflessness witnessed that morning. Here in Clinton Township, our community will once again come together at the Annandale Hose Company 9/11 Memorial to honor those we lost and remember the courage and sacrifice shown that day.

The ceremony begins at 1:00 PM.

Parking Reminder

Handicap parking is available at Station 1. All other guests are asked to park across Beaver Avenue in the Annandale Square parking lot. The Clinton Township Police Department will provide traffic control and assist pedestrians crossing Beaver Avenue.

The ceremony will include the Immaculate Conception School Children’s Choir, remarks from guest speaker John Mulligan, the reading of the names of those we lost accompanied by our original bell, a firing salute by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5119 Honor Guard, and the playing of Amazing Grace. Light refreshments will follow.

As the 25th anniversary approaches, our community will once again gather at the Annandale Hose Company 9/11 Memorial to remember those whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Remembrance ceremonies are about more than looking back. The values demonstrated that day, among them service, compassion, courage, and unity, continue to shape our communities today.

This Friday, Annandale Hose Company #1, Clinton Township’s All-Volunteer Fire Department, welcomes our neighbors, veterans, first responders, families, and friends to join us for this year’s Community 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

ANNANDALE HOSE COMPANY FIREHOUSE FACT OF THE MONTH: ACCOUNTABILITY TAGS

Ever notice firefighter name tags on the ground near a doorway or just inside a building? Leave them right where they are, they’re supposed to be there.

Each Annandale Hose Company firefighter carries two accountability tags. One goes to Incident Command to track crews on scene. The other is dropped at the entrance we use before entering a building.

That little tag tells us who is inside and where they went in. If a firefighter becomes lost, trapped, or calls a Mayday, it can give rescuers critical information about where to start looking.

Pretty simple technology for a pretty important job.

So if you see firefighter tags near an entrance while we’re operating, please don’t pick them up or move them. If something seems wrong, let an emergency responder know.

If you happen to find one after we’re gone or somewhere with no emergency activity nearby, please contact Annandale Hose Company so we can get it back to its owner regardless of station.

Thank You, Hunterdon County, for Supporting Local Fire & EMS!

Annandale Hose Company would like to sincerely thank the Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners for its continued commitment to our first responders and the residents we serve.

Hunterdon County recently awarded $500,000 in grants to 36 local fire and EMS organizations, providing greatly needed support for equipment, protective gear, rescue tools, and other operational needs.

We are especially grateful for the $15,000 awarded to the Township of Clinton Division of Fire/Annandale Hose Company for extrication equipment. This funding directly supports our ability to maintain the tools and resources needed to serve our community safely and effectively.

Thank you to Hunterdon County for continuing to invest in the organizations that protect our communities.

70 Fire Calls and Counting. 31 Days. 100% Volunteer!

As summer winds down and families settle back into their normal routines, August 2026 will be a month the Annandale Hose Company won’t soon forget.

As of August 31, our 100% volunteer members have answered nearly 70 calls for service, and counting. From alarm activations and structure fires to motor vehicle crashes, helicopter landings, and everything in between, our volunteers have repeatedly stepped away from work, family, meals, and sleep to answer the call when our community needs help most.

Through multiple calls a day and an exceptionally busy month, our members continued to do what they do best: show up, work together, and serve our community.

But no fire company does it alone. A sincere THANK YOU to our neighboring fire departments, EMS providers, local law enforcement, Hunterdon County Communications/Dispatchers, Clinton Township DPW, utility crews, and all of our regional partners who have stood beside us. This milestone belongs to the entire emergency services community that works together every day to protect our residents.

And somewhere between all those calls, our members and families still found time to come together for a company pool party/picnic, complete with great food, a vintage Good Humor ice cream truck, and even hot-air-balloon rides thanks to some great friends of the Fire Company.

Nearly 70 calls. 100% volunteer. One incredible month of teamwork.

Thank you for a great summer, Clinton Township. Stay safe, and remember the men and women throughout our region who continue to answer the call.

Remembering Together

For twenty-five years, Americans have remembered September 11 in different ways. Some remember exactly where they were that morning. Others know the day through the stories shared by family members, first responders, teachers, and veterans. Every generation’s connection is different, and the importance of remembering stays the same.

This year’s ceremony follows the order our community has kept for years.

President Marc Strauss will welcome the community and give the opening remarks. The Immaculate Conception School Children’s Choir will sing the National Anthem, and Company Chaplain Firefighter Charles Riddle will offer the invocation and the benediction. Guest speaker John Mulligan, a retired FBI Special Agent and firefighter, a United States Marine Corps veteran, and a thirty-seven year veteran of law enforcement, will share his remarks. The names of our honored friends, neighbors, and loved ones lost that day will be read aloud, accompanied by the ringing of the Hose Company’s original bell by Past Chief Steven Williams. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5119 Honor Guard will render a firing salute, and Elizabeth Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Clarke will play Amazing Grace. President Strauss will close the ceremony.

Together, these traditions create a meaningful opportunity for our community to pause, reflect, and remember.

One more way to remember.

On Sunday, September 27, members of our company will take part in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Walk in New York City, following the same route FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller ran on the morning of September 11, 2001. The walk is open to all fitness levels and steps off at 9:30 AM. This is a local effort carried by Dan Fort, and the registration and donation link is printed on the graphic. If you would like to walk with us, or support the foundation, we would be glad to have you.

Training for When It Matters Most

Annandale Hose Company members conducted hands-on ladder and aerial operations training tonight at the Clinton Township Department of Public Works building.

Crews rotated through three stations focused on essential fireground skills:

• Ventilation operations using the aerial
• Roof ladder advancement and placement
• Ground ladder deployment and placement

These skills are critical to life safety and protecting property, but they are also perishable. Regular hands-on training keeps our members proficient and prepared when the call comes in.

Thank you to the AHCO Training Committee for coordinating tonight’s drill and to the Clinton Township Department of Public Works for their continued support, use of their facilities, and ongoing partnership with the fire department.

A Summer Stop for Engine 46-2

While returning from a call this afternoon, the Engine 46-2 crew spotted a neighborhood lemonade stand and made a quick stop to support some of our younger Clinton Township residents.

The stand, run by the daughters of one of our firefighters and their friends, had everything covered: cold lemonade, cookies, and even mystery bags. Needless to say, the crew didn’t leave empty-handed.

For us, being part of the community goes well beyond answering calls. Sometimes it’s simply stopping the engine, saying hello to our neighbors, and supporting a neighborhood lemonade stand on a summer afternoon.

Thanks for having us, and thanks to the Clinton Township community for always making us feel at home.

Join Us in Celebrating 100 Years of Lulubelle with Clinton Fire Department | 8/15 • 11 AM–4 PM • 1 New St., Clinton

This Saturday, our friends at Clinton Fire Department – Station 45 are celebrating the 100th birthday of Lulubelle, their historic 1926 fire apparatus and an important piece of Clinton’s fire service history.

Annandale Hose Company will be joining the celebration with Old Mac 46, a historic Clinton Township Police Chief’s car, and a 46 Fire Chief’s car, alongside many other antique fire apparatus and historic vehicles from around the Northeast.

There will be food trucks, music, a b**r garden, kids’ activities, antique apparatus, and plenty to see throughout the day.
