Food Delivery Drivers

ACCA is seeking food delivery drivers in Annandale/Bailey’s Crossroads. There is no fixed commitment. Drivers can work on a weekly or less frequent basis, as it suits their schedules. Drivers receive a survey at the beginning of the week where they can indicate their availability for the week. Deliveries are between 1:30 and about 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Drivers receive food referrals from the food captain, contact the client to ensure they will be home, pick up pre-packed food at the pantry, and drive to the client’s residence. The time involved is usually less than an hour. For further information, complete the form or email us at [email protected]

Individual volunteers perform nearly all of ACCA’s work. Work can be scheduled based on the volunteer’s availability. All in-person work occurs in the Annandale/Bailey’s Crossroad…

Can you help with a food donation? The ACCA food pantry is very low on soup and would appreciate your help! Any type of soup is great, and the chunky soup is popular because it can be combined with rice for an easy dinner. We usually provide 6 cans of soup to each family, and with 106 deliveries in May, that's a lot of soup!

Here's where you can drop off.

-- at the Mason District Governmental Center at 6507 Columbia Pike on weekdays between 9 and 5.

__at the pantry on Tuesday-Friday from 1:30-4 pm, except for County Holidays and other scheduled closings. The ACCA food pantry is located at 7200 Columbia Pike (trailer separate from the daycare center) in Annandale. Please do not drop off food if a volunteer is not available. Note: the pantry will close for Juneteenth (June 19).

Pause. Question. Protect.

The Fairfax County Consumer Protection Commission created the Pause. Question. Protect. campaign to help residents stay alert and avoid scams.

Scammers are becoming more creative every day—whether through phone calls, emails, text messages, or social media. They often try to make you act quickly or share personal information. This campaign reminds everyone to slow down and think before responding.

Drivers for Medical Appointments

We partner with the Shepherd Center of Annandale/Springfield to provide critical transportation. We need volunteer drivers who drive local seniors in Annandale, Springfield, and sections of Alexandria to medical appointments during the week and grocery shopping on weekends. Even if you have a limited amount of time to volunteer, this is a wonderful way to touch the lives of people who desperately need this service. You determine when, where, and how often you drive.

If interested, please visit this web page, contact the Shepherd's Center at 703-941-1419 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, or email [email protected]. This program is a joint effort between Shepherd's Center of Annandale, Springfield, and ACCA.

Did you know?

ACCA started in 1967 as a response to a critical need for childcare. A small group of children were cared for at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under a government program that provided funds for the service. Suddenly, the rules of the program changed, and families could no longer be helped. These were low income working parents whose wages could not cover the cost of childcare. Families had few choices. They faced unemployment and seeking welfare assistance if their children did not have access to affordable childcare. A group of concerned community members met at Peace Lutheran Church and decided to work on this problem. These concerned and courageous people established the Annandale Christian Community for Action by starting ACCA Day Care Center at John Calvin Presbyterian Church. ACCA has been supporting children and their families with the help of our community and our partner churches for almost six decades. Certainly, many things have changed, but the spirit of ACCA continues to have a positive impact on local families.
