Volunteer Power at ACCA

In FY2026, ACCA volunteers worked 12,475 hours, dedicating their time and expertise to the operations that are central to ACCA's mission. These programs include the food program, family emergency assistance, and furniture programs. The hourly rate for volunteering has been updated for 2026. While the national rate is $36.14, the rate for Virginia-based volunteers is $36.99. According to this, the total value of the volunteer work at ACCA for these programs is $461,575 for one year! We are very grateful for the dedication and generosity of our volunteers who have chosen to spend their precious time working with ACCA. Thank you to all!

Save the Date!

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, ACCA will partner with Fairfax County at their "Stuff the Bus" food drive at the Mason District Government Center, located at 6507 Columbia Pike. Bring your food and hygiene donations to the Government Center! A full list of what we need is here:

Crackers, tuna fish, Spam, canned chicken, peas, all soups, pasta meals, sugar, and oil.

Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together Arlington/Fairfax/Falls Church (Rebuilding Together-AFF) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves low-income homeowners and nonprofits. Volunteers repair and upgrade homes at no charge to the owner. We focus on health, safety, and accessibility for every home.

Thursday, September 3 is the day! Stop by the Giant in Annandale to donate food to our food drive between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Upon entering the Giant Food location, shoppers will be offered a list of items the ACCA pantry needs most. Once purchased, shoppers can deposit their donations directly to the waiting Mason District Police cruiser parked conveniently at the curb by the store exit. Those donations from your home pantry or not purchased at Giant Food can also be dropped at the police cruiser by the Giant Food exit.

These drives are sponsored by the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and the Mason District Police Station with support from Giant Food.

Many thanks to NARFE Annandale1159 and the Fairfax County Police Department for organizing 3 food drives at the Giant Food in Annandale this fall. The first is tomorrow, September 3! Stop by between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to donate food to the pantry for the fall.

ACCA works to reduce food waste in our community in partnership with DC Food Rescue and Whole Foods Market. We collect excess food from Whole Foods at Tysons Boro every week, then distribute it to families in the Annandale/Bailey's Crossroads area. A big thank you goes out to BRAWS (Bringing Resources to Aid Women's Shelters), located in Vienna, VA, which provides packages of menstrual supplies to ACCA for use in our food and hygiene ministry. The supplies are added to our clients' grocery deliveries each week. Thank you to for your continuing support.
