Military Support Programs and Networks

Military Support Programs and Networks All of our programs are free and provide resources and tools to service members, veterans, and military families.

Our high impact peer-to-peer programs help overcome stigma and decrease isolation, and our resilience-based programs assist Post-9/11 women veterans, spouses, and military families with young children. Military Support Programs and Networks (M-SPAN) is a portfolio of initiatives within the University of Michigan Depression Center and Department of Psychiatry dedicated to military and veteran menta

l health and wellness. Using innovative approaches to overcoming stigma and reducing isolation, the M-SPAN team has developed five unique military and veteran-focused programs in response to identified gaps in services. Each program includes evidence-based approaches that have been tailored for specific populations, such as student veterans, National Guard service members, military and veteran spouses and caregivers, and women veterans. The M-SPAN approach prioritizes the development and implementation of programs that include rigorous program evaluations, and clear trajectories for national dissemination. The M-SPAN programs are dedicated to military and veteran mental health and include innovative approaches to overcoming stigma and reducing isolation, advancing strategies for community outreach, and developing and implementing evidence-based programs that can be replicated nationally. We are a part of the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry and Depression Center.
