Student Veterans of America - University of Michigan is a nonprofit, nonpartisan campus organization focused on ensuring the transition from service-member to student is a positive experience. We actively participate in disabled veteran charity/fundraising events, social support groups, individual mentorship initiatives, and career development programs.

Had an amazing game night with Army ROTC this Sunday! We played everything from Rummy and ‘New Phone, Who Dis?’ to the National Parks board game and Monopoly—all while enjoying some pizza and catching NFL games in the background. Great games, great company. Can’t wait for the next one!

Going back to servant leadership! Last night, our President welcomed us into his home for dinner with his family. We cooked together (got lemon juice in the eyes) and shared the meal, and then had a battle for the ages in Mario Cart!

LAST WEEK RECAP!

At our weekly Wednesday Meeting we summarized the Benefit Dinner, then had a CPR familiarization class with our Army Medic Jen! (If you missed it and/or have questions, please DM us. CPR is a lifesaving skill **especially if started early!!** that everyone can learn🫶🏼)

Thursday evening the officers invited Kate Melcher and Steven Rose from and started a post-Benefit Dinner tradition to celebrate all the hard work completed to have such a successful Benefit Dinner. Once again, thank you to EVERYONE who took part, it’s a team effort every year!

Thursday evening we also took a special moment to recognize David Wulbrecht for all his work in the SVA over the past 5 years. Dave is the guy you can always count on, and no matter what is going on, he is always putting in WORK behind the scenes and never asks for recognition. Dave truly embodies what it means to be a Silent Servant, and most of all, Dave has been a role model for what Servant Leadership means. Thank you for all your hard work over the years, Dave!

Last night we had one of our most successful Benefit Dinners yet! Supporting Fisher House Michigan, we were able to raise over $33,000 to go towards funding a Fisher House in Detroit! We hosted SVA members and mentors from the past and present, to include 5 previous University of Michigan SVA Presidents, many SVAUM alumni, and a plethora of mentors and sponsors to help us reach our goal. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thank you to those who were unable to physically be there, but still showed support through the Silent Auction!
