More than just a place to live, the ICC is a community of member-owners built upon principles of cooperation and commitment to affordable housing. The ICC has spent the last 75 years finding the most efficient, cost effective, and environmentally friendly ways of working together and sharing resources. The ICC’s commitment to education includes the development of leaders and some of the best leadership opportunities available to students anywhere in the United States. The ICC is comprised of 16 unique housing communities located on the University of Michigan’s north and central campuses. Creativity and recreation are an integral part of life in every ICC house. Each house provides different amenities, ranging from cable television to pool tables, gardens and exercise rooms. Eating and working together with housemates, participating in group decision-making, and sharing good times help co-opers to develop close bonds. This strong sense of community, combined with the knowledge of shared ownership, is what turns co-op houses into homes.
