Cobblestone Farm Museum

Cobblestone Farm Museum A 1840s era Greek Revival Style Farmhouse Museum. We offer interpretive programs, guided tours and a Built for Dr. Benajah Ticknor, a U.S. Naval Surgeon.

At it's height, the farm contained 400 acres. It was owned by three families: Ticknors, Booths and Campbells. It was given to the City of Ann Arbor in 1974 by George and Mary Campbell for use as a museum. We are a 501c3 organization.

The black bunting you see hanging on our museum was a common symbol of grief and mourning in nineteenth century America.

We hang this bunting today in memory of George Taylor, President of the Cobblestone Farm Association and long-time volunteer.

On Monday, August 9, 2021, we lost a dear friend and colleague when George passed suddenly in his home. George was an ever-present friendly face around the farm, and if you are a regular visitor to our museum and grounds, it is likely that you met him at some point.

We can think of no better tribute than to adorn the museum he so loved with this nineteenth century symbol of our grief in his passing.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at Cobblestone Farm on August 21, 2021, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the Cobblestone Farm Association or a charity of your choice.

If you would like to make a donation to the Cobblestone Farm Association in George’s memory, you can do so at the following link:

Have you ever wondered how Americans celebrated the 4th of July in the 1850s?

Well, it wasn't all that different from how we celebrate it today. Picnics in the mid-19th century became a very popular reprieve from daily life and celebrating America's independence went hand in hand with the pastime. On June 30th, we'll be recreating a 1850s picnic at Cobblestone Farm. Be sure to stop by and see what it was like to celebrate the holiday!
