Avoid Saying Yes

"Can you hear me?" Do NOT say, "Yes."

Scammers call and ask questions to get a "Yes" that they can record and then use, saying you have agreed to a product or service. Instead, try other phrases like "I can," "I do," "I hear you."

Voice Cloning

Did you know that scammers can steal or mimic voices? It's true! A lot of people have fallen for scams because they get calls that sound like loved ones.

We understand this can be scary to think about, but the same could be done with your voice.

One way to protect yourself is to not answer calls if you don't recognize the number on caller ID. If you do talk to someone you realize might be a scammer, hang up!

Caution: Scammers May Already Have Your Medicare Number

If you get a call from someone offering a service or products and say Medicare will cover it, it’s a scam. Scammers may have illegally gotten your Medicare number.

Hang up and report the call to the and to Medicare that your number has been compromised.

THIS WEEK IS MEDICARE FRAUD PREVENTION WEEK

Saying no to offers of free medical braces or services from scammers over the phone is great. But sometimes, they will find a way to bill Medicare anyway. Be sure to look at your Medicare statements every time they come in and look for charges that shouldn't be there.

If you find something, say something.
Report any questions or concerns to the SMP at 877-808-2468.

June is National Immigrant Heritage Month!

This month, we celebrate the stories, cultures, and contributions of immigrants who have helped shape our communities and our nation. National Immigrant Heritage Month is a time to recognize the courage, resilience, and determination of those who have journeyed from around the world in search of safety, opportunity, and a brighter future.

At JFS, we are honored to support and welcome individuals and families as they build new lives and strengthen our community. Together, we celebrate the rich diversity that makes us stronger.

THIS WEEK IS MEDICARE FRAUD PREVENTION WEEK

WISE will be sharing tips all week, so check back here every day to stay informed!

If you get an unexpected call and they say they are from Medicare, Social Security, or the IRS, hang up.

Do not give out personal information to someone who calls you claiming they are from Medicare or other government agencies.

These places won't call you. If you’re unsure if it’s really them, call them back and ask if anyone was trying to reach you.

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH!

Nationally, 1 in 4 adults experience a mental health condition each year – youth follow closely behind at 1 in 5 – and every one of them is learning how to manage their mental health each day.

The path to better days is deeply personal, and what works for one person may not work for another. It’s important to explore which practices, treatments, or other supports best fit your unique needs and circumstances.

If you’re feeling discouraged by not knowing how to have more good days or you know someone else who is, professional help is available at Thrive.

To seek out services, call 734-436-4249 to complete a brief screening over the phone or find us at JFSAnnArbor.org/Thrive to complete the online form.
