It is very important to vote - its your way of making a difference and having your voice heard. Vote 2022!
The importance of voting by Naomi Richelew.
Hi. It’s Naomi, Marla’s daughter.
This election season is my first time voting. As a nineteen year old, I voted for the first time this summer. It felt empowering, but also the primary for mid-term elections are not exactly earth shattering.
But THIS TUESDAY, the stakes are higher. For every American, and also my household. My mom, Marla Linderman Richelew is on the ballot.
My mom is running for 22nd Circuit Court Judge seat. She has always been there for my brother and me. From being a soccer/hockey/tae kwon do mom to being Skyline PTSO President. Whenever we needed her, she always made time for her. And now it is time for me to be there for her and let everyone know why I believe she is not only the most qualified candidate, but also the most fair and compassionate candidate.
I have one sibling, my brother Josh, and I am proud to say neither he nor I are the favorite child. My mom truly never picked a favorite. Growing up, my worst punishment was that my brother would be the favorite child for 5 minutes. It may seem difficult to stay impartial between children, but it’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE to stay impartial between your children and someone else’s. Yet, when a friend and I would have an argument, we both would rely on my mom’s voice of reason to mediate between us and impart us both with life lessons. Every time I was in the wrong, my mom would tell me I was in the wrong.
I know we can count on my mom to be fair, compassionate, and impartial. And I know that we can count on my Mom to be an amazing Circuit Court judge that we can count on.
We need you to vote. Did you know that my brother Josh turns 18 on November 11? My brother cannot vote for our mom by THREE days. He’d love to vote in this election but can’t. You can. Your vote is powerful and can ensure justice in Washtenaw.
Remember to vote for the best mom who will be an amazing Circuit Court Judge, Marla Linderman Richelew!
Thank you,
Naomi Richelew
