What a night for ice cream! 🍦

We started with sunshine.

We got cozy, laughed, auctioned desserts, and celebrated a spirit of community through a torrential downpour.

And we ended the evening with a beautiful rainbow. The perfect symbol of hope, positivity, and renewal for an Iowa that works for everyone and the campaign ahead.

A big thank you to Catelin Drey for being an amazing special guest auctioneer - you are a natural! And a huge thank you to everyone who was a part of making my annual ice cream social a smashing success! I am so grateful for your friendships, support, and belief in what is possible.

In the immortal words of Natalie Merchant, "these are days, you'll remember."

Alternative headline: "On her way out the door, Governor Reynolds screws 200 Iowans out of their future retirement security (IPERS) and continues the failed strategy of privatization while sending millions of Iowans' tax dollars to out-of-state corporations."

This isn't our first rodeo, folks.

Iowa to lay off 200 state workers as it shifts management of government data and websites to two private companies.

College already costs a fortune. Iowa Republicans just made it cost more.

Gov. Reynold just signed a bill requiring University of Iowa students to take mandatory “freedom classes” designed by GOP lawmakers just to graduate.

Nobody asked for them. No student wanted them. But now they’re mandatory for graduation. Sen. Janet Petersen said it best: “I hate to see it.”

So do Iowa families.

I know this is the news nobody wants. But it's our current water reality. Please do all you can to conserve so that CIWW has the capacity to deliver safe drinking water to all of us.

🚨The Central Iowa Water Works (CIWW) Board of Trustees has initiated Stage 3 of its Water Use Plan, implementing a mandatory lawn watering ban for residential, business, and government customers across the region.

To help manage elevated nitrate concentrations in source waters and ensure adequate treatment capacity, the regional system is utilizing all available resources, including the Nitrate Removal Facility, Maffitt Reservoir, and Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) wells.

Visit: https://ciww.gov for more information on this notice and frequently asked questions.

All drinking water produced by Central Iowa Water Works meets all Safe Drinking Water Standards.

The following communities and agencies are affected by this alert: Ankeny, Clive, Johnston, Norwalk, Polk City, Waukee, Des Moines Water Works, Urbandale Water Utility, West Des Moines Water Works, Warren Water and portions of the Xenia Water District.

Definitely feeling like an Iowa summer out on the doors today! (Glad I snapped a pic as I was getting started!)

Top issue: water quality and nitrates. I heard more about water quality as a top issue in a single day than in any previous election cycle. No joke. It was good to share some details on the Water Quality Act I was proud to cosponsor this year. Iowa has a lot of work to do! (Link in comments)

Wonderful to be with you today, Ankeny 3!
